Book Description
Platelet rich plasma therapy uses a patient's own platelets to encourage and accelerate healing in a variety of tissues. With the growing popularity of using platelet rich plasma for aesthetic procedures, the need for a book that ties together all of the current literature in one place has become more pressing. This book fills in that gap as a comprehensive guide that covers history, basic science and clinical utility of platelet rich plasma with its uses in hair restoration, facial rejuvenation, and some wound healing. It includes the latest studies/literature from peer reviewed journals and clinical, anecdotal experience. Chapters provide an extensive look at how to describe the mechanism of action of platelet rich plasma (PRP) in the skin and hair; how to identify the difference between PRP, platelet rich fibrin, and stem cells; and identify the various PRP preparation systems and how to calculate dosing. Aesthetic Clinician's Guide to Platelet Rich Plasma is written especially for the aesthetic clinician, whether dermatologist or plastic surgeon. This book will find utility across specialties and with it's extensive coverage it is a vital reference.

Comprehensively describes bone augmentation techniques and their application to the different anatomical regions of the upper and lower jaws. Bone Augmentation by Anatomical Region is a unique, evidence-based guide focusing on each specific anatomical region – anterior maxilla, posterior maxilla, anterior mandible, and posterior mandible – in order to emphasize the correct implemented procedures needed to successfully perform oral osseous reconstruction. Numerous ridge augmentation techniques are covered, including: horizontal and vertical guided bone regeneration, autologous block transplantation, interpositional bone grafting, allogeneic blocks, sandwich technique, split-expansion ridge technique, and sinus floor grafting. Non-augmented approaches such as forced socket site extrusion and the installation of digitally printed implants are also presented and discussed. Guides readers on tackling bone augmentation via anatomical region of the jaws and their related surrounding muscles, vascularization and innervation Presents innovative augmentation techniques for the anterior maxilla, posterior maxilla, anterior mandible, and posterior mandible Includes clinical photographs in each section and a decision tree to help readers select the appropriate surgical modality Bone Augmentation by Anatomical Region is a specialist resource suitable for dentists who practice implant dentistry, oral surgeons, oral and maxillofacial surgeons, periodontists, and postgraduate dental students in the above-mentioned disciplines. Book Description
Platelet rich fibrin (PRF) is an autologous biological product which becomes popular day by day and available in a wide variety of fields in medicine. Platelet concentrates which are introduced at the early 90s have evolved over the years. The use such autologous materials have become trendy in recent years to encounter demanding expectations of patients, improve treatment success and maximize patient comfort. Despite its increasing use in dentistry and oral surgery, the most indications and effects are still being discussed. PRF is easily accepted by patients because of its low cost, easy to receive, low donor morbidity, low postoperative complication and infection rate. This biomaterial may be a solution for patients who have strong negative beliefs about the use of allografts and xenografts or who are afraid of complications during the grafting procedure. The objectives of these technologies are to use their synergistic effect to improve the hard and soft tissue regeneration. PRF in oral surgery are used for alveolar bone reconstruction, dental implant surgery, sinus augmentation, socket preservation, osteonecrosis, oroantral fistula closure, struggling with oral ulcers, preventing swelling and edema constitution. This chapter aims to review the clinical applications of platelets in oral surgery and the role of molecular components in tissue healing.
