Book Description
This book traces the Galloways back almost four centuries, starting with their Scottish homelands and their arrival in Virginia in the 1620's. They moved to Maryland in 1649 as part of a Quaker settlement, and from there spread out, following the frontier to Pennsylvania and Kentucky. The author's ancestry is traced back to Thomas, who died in Baltimore in 1798. The story is well documented throughout, with events put into historical context.

Book Description
A contribution to old Augusta County and Rockingham County and their descendants of the family of Harrison and allied lines. Rev. Thomas Harrison (1619-1682), an intimate of the Cromwell family, served as chaplain of the Virginia colony during Gov. Berkeley's first term. He immigrated to Jamestown, Virginia from England in 1640 and, changing from anti-Puritan to Puritan, moved to Massachusetts and marrying Dorothy Symonds about 1648/1649. He then returned to England. Benjamin Harrison, his brother, then immigrated to become the founder of the Harrison family of the James River in Virginia. Other colonial Harrisons who immigrated are detailed, along with many of their descendants and relatives, particularly those who settled in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Long Island of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia. Descendants and relatives also lived in West Virginia, Ohio, Illinois, Missouri, Tennessee, Texas, Florida, Kentucky, California and elsewhere. Includes many ancestors and genealogical data in England, Ireland and elsewhere.

Book Description
Pendleton County, carved from parts of Bracken and Campbell Counties in 1798, sits halfway between Cincinnati, Ohio, and Lexington, Kentucky. The Pendleton name came from the early group of Virginia settlers who founded Falmouth, the county seat, at the confluence of the Licking Rivers. They selected this name to honor Edmund Pendleton, a Virginia statesman and surveyor of Kentucky. The landscape offered gently rolling hills, the two Licking Rivers, and their tributaries as a place to settle and prosper. Within the valleys and rich bottomlands of these hills, the communities of Falmouth, Butler, DeMossville, Catawba, Goforth, McKinneysburg, Boston Station, Morgan, Flour Creek, Mt. Auburn, and all the small business centers grew and prospered. Pendleton County has provided their community, state, and country with citizens who served as legislators, ministers, soldiers, education leaders, entertainers, business entrepreneurs, and a Nobel Prize-winning scientist.
