Microbial Biocontrol: Molecular Perspective in Plant Disease Management
Author: Kubilay Kurtulus Bastas
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 981993947X
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 351
Book Description
This book is exploring molecular insight of plant disease resistance, enhancing plant immunity as well as the latest omics or approaches in plant disease management. In the recent past, microbial strains or products frequently utilized to inhibit the growth of phytopathogen and disease management. However, it is well known that plants respond to numerous biotic and abiotic stresses by morphological, biochemical, and molecular mechanisms. But still there is much more to study about their molecular aspect of interaction between host- pathogens- biocontrol agents that will be helpful in formulation and applications of microbial antagonistic for effective management of phytopathogens. This book attempt to fill this gap in the literature. This book is of interest to teachers, researchers, agronomist, horticulturalist scientists, capacity builders and policymakers. Also the book serves as additional reading material for undergraduate and graduate students of agriculture, microbiology, environment science.

Perspectives in Plant Ecology and Environmental Biology
Author: Prithipal Singh
Publisher: Scientific Publishers
ISBN: 9387741354
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 408
Book Description
This volume commemorates the Golden Jubilee Year of the establishment of Kirorimal College. This prestigious institution was honoured by the gracious presence of the First President of India, Dr. Rajindra Prasad who laid the foundation of the college building. This commemorative volume focuses attention on the growing awareness about plant ecology and environment biology. The different contributions present an up-to-date, detailed and balanced overview of the current knowledge within specific topics.Man has interacted with nature in various ways since the dawn of civilization. Primitive societies ensured that a proper balance was maintained. The situation has changed by the various developmental activities of man. We are losing our natural resources, biodiversity, genetic diversity, and are unable to manage nature. The consequences are becoming apparent in the form of drought, floods, depletion of the ozone layer, global warming, climate change, melting of snow, rising of water levels in coastal areas, desertification, etc. These concern ecologists/ environmentalists and should receive adequate attention by students who study ecology. In this volume, emphasis has been laid on areas such as Climate Change, Environmental Laws, Biodiversity Act, Intellectual Property Rights, Mineral Industry and Environment, Remote Sensing, GIS and the environment, Diversity and Distribution of wild relatives of crop plants, Sustainable agriculture, Management of Protected Areas, Wetland ecosystems, and Coastal Erosion. The volume is meant to serve as useful reference book for graduate and post-graduate students.

Abiotic Stress-Mediated Sensing and Signaling in Plants: An Omics Perspective
Author: Sajad Majeed Zargar
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 9811074798
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 358
Book Description
The natural environment for plants is composed of a complex set of abiotic and biotic stresses; plant responses to these stresses are equally complex. Systems biology allows us to identify regulatory hubs in complex networks. It also examines the molecular “parts” (transcripts, proteins and metabolites) of an organism and attempts to combine them into functional networks or models that effectively describe and predict the dynamic activities of that organism in different environments. This book focuses on research advances regarding plant responses to abiotic stresses, from the physiological level to the molecular level. It highlights new insights gained from the integration of omics datasets and identifies remaining gaps in our knowledge, outlining additional focus areas for future crop improvement research. Plants have evolved a wide range of mechanisms for coping with various abiotic stresses. In many crop plants, the molecular mechanisms involved in a single type of stress tolerance have since been identified; however, in order to arrive at a holistic understanding of major and common events concerning abiotic stresses, the signaling pathways involved must also be elucidated. To date several molecules, like transcription factors and kinases, have been identified as promising candidates that are involved in crosstalk between stress signalling pathways. However, there is a need to better understand the tolerance mechanisms for different abiotic stresses by thoroughly grasping the signalling and sensing mechanisms involved. Accordingly, this book covers a range of topics, including the impacts of different abiotic stresses on plants, the molecular mechanisms leading to tolerance for different abiotic stresses, signaling cascades revealing cross-talk among various abiotic stresses, and elucidation of major candidate molecules that may provide abiotic stress tolerance in plants.
