Book Description
This is Volume 2 of a total 2 volumes of this Title. The special focus of this book is to make the ardent readers aware of the salient features of this Vedic text on astrology and how it is distinct from the other transcripts on the subject, available thus far. Great concerted efforts were made to collect, collate and combine all the available manuscripts and other related published material contributed by the eminent contemporary writers and commentators and then the sequence of subject matters is aligned to make it comprehensible and authentic. The name of this holistic text is also as per the ancient statement and record, namely ‘Parasara Hora’. This book adduces certain critical and important features which were never attempted before. This book in one hundred chapters falls in line with the description or narration: “होरा शताध्यायी सर्व पाप विनाशिनी verse as appeared in the Uttara Khanda of the text collated by Shridhar. Amongst the other contemporary writers of such treatise, Sitaram Jha, Devchandra Jha, Tarachand Shastri to name a few, have formatted this text covering between 71 and 101 chapters, but in most of the cases 20 odd chapters were not from ‘Hora Shastra’. These details are available in the introductory note: ‘The specialties of this book’. This note also minutely explains the deletion of inapt Shlokas, the addition of relevant Shlokas and also some Shlokas have been rearranged purposefully so are the chapters. Besides, the treatment of some of the subjects is so unique that will fill the void for the readers to experience. These 20 odd supplementary researched chapters culled out of the published and manuscript materials are unavailable in any text of the Brihat Parasara Hora Shastra (BPHS) of the present time. Trust with this value addition, the esteem readers will get immensely benefited.

27 Stars, 27 Gods
Author: Vic Dicara
Publisher: Createspace Independent Publishing Platform
ISBN: 9781481859875
Category : Body, Mind & Spirit
Languages : en
Pages : 160
Book Description
Over a decade of dedicated research! Over a year of writing and editing! With the blessings and guidance of a swami, a babaji, and a Sanskrit scholar, Vic DiCara presents you the world's most definitive, simple and completely awesome explanation of the mythology and meaning within the 27 stars of ancient Indian astrology! If you are an astrologer or a fan of astrology, you will be transformed by Vic's radically clear and straightforward explanations of Sanskrit, Vedic mythology, and mastery of intuitive symbolism. If you are a lover of India and her culture, you will delight in these deep revelations and rare expositions of familiar gods like Vishnu, not-so-familiar gods like Varuna, and nearly forgotten gods like Ajaikapat. If you are a spiritual seeker, you will discover the origin of the universe, the meaning of life, and essential clues in the eternal quest for the "fountain of youth." The 160 pages of this book are abundantly replete with exact references and footnotes to satisfy the scholars among you. The book is dripping with dramatic storytelling, filled with philosophy as clear and deep as a Himalayan lake, and precisely presents the perfectly useful astrological symbolism of the divine stars. * * "If there is anything Vedic and spiritual about Hindu astrology, then this is the book that can teach us about it. Vic leads us into the wonderful depths of Vedic wisdom by relating the myths connected with each of the 27 lunar mansions and their deities. Using this approach, this book goes considerably deeper than other Jyotish textbooks I have seen. Warmly recommended, even to non-astrologers! Can we hope for follow-up book about the Hindu planetary deities?" - Dieter Koch, Indologist and Archaeoastronomer Co-creator of the Swiss Ephemeris "Vic DiCara's exploration and definitive research on the lunar mansions brings the primordial zodiac alive with the rich symbolism and sacred stories of Indian lore. We often forget that the basis of Vedic astrology will always be the mystical mythology associated with Jyotish, the science of light. Mr. DiCara's brilliant text illuminates our path home to the divine through his deep understanding and the blessings of the gods and goddesses of ancient India" - Dennis M. Harness, Ph.D. Psychologist, Writer and Vedic Astrologer "27 Stars, 27 Gods is a fantastically deep book about the fixed stars of Vedic astrology. It is well written and well researched, and is a clear and enjoyable read! I highly recommend it for everyone from astrologers to yogis and everyone in between." - Juliana Swanson, RN ACVA Teacher, Jyotish Visharada & Kovid More than a journey through the outer universe of astrological stars, 27 Stars 27 Gods is a journey through the driving forces of the subconscious inner universe. By helping us identify these influences Vic DiCara helps us understand ourselves better and progress more smoothly on our life's journey. 27 Stars 27 Gods can be a reference book in the hands of an experienced astrologer, but it is also a self improvement tool for any reader interested in exploring life in depth. It presents symbols, mythology, ancient storytelling and divine lila in language that immediately catches one's interest and speaks to us like a friend - never prescriptive, but always revealing our opportunities. Let me congratulate Vic on this unique book. Unlike most books in the spiritual market, this is not at all a copy of a copy of a copy. It is an outstanding new addition to our knowledge, written with an inspired pen of intensity and wit. - Sripad Sacinandana Swami Vaishnava Guru & Sanyassi

Light on Relationships
Author: Hart Defouw
Publisher: Weiser Books
ISBN: 9781578631483
Category : Body, Mind & Spirit
Languages : en
Pages : 308
Book Description
The sages of ancient India developed the astrological practice of Jyotisha as a karma-measuring apparatus to indicate where your karmas will permit ideals to be shared between you and those with whom you relate. Jyotisha can help restructure relationship dynamics by providing perspectives on when and how your relationships and their difficulties are likely to arise and dissipate. Light on Relationships is currently the only book that makes relationship analysis accessible to the modern student of Indian astrology. If you want to learn how to use this system for chart comparison, this book gives you the complete details. The authors cover the techniques of synastry and explore all the facets of what makes a relationship work--or not--including personal karma and goals, family influences, the Ayurvedic constitution or dosha of each individual, and how these elements are revealed. In an entertaining and informative way, the authors explain how the individual chart will reveal your inborn ability to relate. They explain the traditional ten Porutthams, which evaluate a couple's sukha (external and internal happiness), and explore superstitious concepts, such as Vishna Kanya (literally, "poison maiden"), or Kuja Dosha ("The Blemish of Mars"). Included are details on determining the most auspicious times for a wedding. This approach to synastry has been developed over years of experimentation. The authors blend the principles of synastry with other techniques culled from Jyotisha's classical canon. Some of the less conventional techniques presented come from ancient oral traditions never before incorporated into the classical works. Other methods come from the authors' mentors; and some have been developed from processes validated over many years of their experience. The authors build on some of the best principles of the astrological traditions of both West and East, hoping to bring the two camps closer together.
