Book Description
This extraordinary volume contains 33 old and forgotten folk and fairy tales including stories like The Magic Mirror, The Ugly Duckling, The Goldsmith’s Fortune, The Enchanted Wreath, The Clever Cat and many, many more. These stories originate from Jutland, Rhodesia/Zimbabwe, Uganda, India, Scotland, Denmark and various European countries. The stories are brought to life by illustrations from H J Ford. Herein are 8 full page colour plates, 19 full page pen and ink drawings and a further 33 in-text vignettes. There was a time when the president of the Folk Lore Society believed it was not acceptable for the editors of the day, in particular Mr Andrew Lang and Mr. Joseph Jacobs, to publish fairy books. Their reply was that they did not see any harm in it, and they were ready to 'put themselves on their country,' and be tried by a jury of children. And so they were proving the President of the FLS wrong. This book also contains many references to fairies. As to whether there are really any fairies or not, is a difficult question. Andrew Lang never saw any himself, but he knew several people who have seen them-in the Highlands-and heard their music. If ever you are near Nether Lochaber, go to the Fairy Hill, and you may hear the music your-self, as grown-up people have done, but you must go on a fine day. If fairies really do not exist, why do so many people believe in them, the world over? The ancient Greeks, the old Egyptians, the Hindus, the Chinese, the Africans and even the Native Americans claim to have seen them and it is unlikely that so many different peoples would have seen and heard them? The Editor cannot say 'good-bye' without advising children, as they pursue their studies, to read The Rose and the Ring, by the late Mr. Thackeray. He believes this book is quite indispensable in every child's library, and parents should be urged to purchase it at the first opportunity, as without it no education is really complete.

Book Description
The stories in this Fairy Book come from all quarters of the world. For example, the adventures of 'Ball-Carrier and the Bad One' are told by Red Indian grandmothers to Red Indian children who never go to school, nor see pen and ink. 'The Bunyip' is known to even more uneducated little ones, running about with no clothes at all in the bush, in Australia. You may see photographs of these merry little black fellows before their troubles begin, in 'Northern Races of Central Australia, ' by Messrs. Spencer and Gillen. They have no lessons except in tracking and catching birds, beasts, fishes, lizards, and snakes, all of which they eat. But when they grow up to be big boys and girls, they are cruelly cut about with stone knives and frightened with sham bogies all for their good' their parents say and I think they would rather go to school, if they had their choice, and take their chance of being birched and bullied

Book Description
This story book, full of positive energy, is written not only for our little loved ones, but for our big loved ones as well – the mothers and fathers, grandmothers and grandfathers, and everyone else. It has the luminous task of bringing LOVE into everyone’s heart – enlightening, opening and thus creating order in our hearts, leaving only the most important thing – LOVE. This is the greatest force, capable of interconnecting all people, animals and nature. From all my heart, I hope my book shows you that love is everywhere, even where we least expect it. A life full of love is joyful and vibrant. Where love is missing, it is sad and gloomy. Our ideas affect our actions either positively or negatively. They are either good when they come from the heart, or bad when our hearts are empty or closed. Fairytales should teach and show us that each of us is a unique magical being who through magical words or helpful deeds can change not only our own life, but also the life of those around us. We can make others happy. We have been given great power and it is up to us to use it well. Some fairytales show us that everyone is different, but at the same time that we have our many similarities. They also show that mutual help is stronger than one-sided aid. The magic words “thank you" and “please" can fulfill your wishes and make your dreams come true. Using colors, other fairytales heal and harmonize, teaching us that illness can also be cured by using bright white light. Some of the stories show us how we can change the atmosphere and energy levels, either by tidying up or simply smiling cheerfully. Read these energy-filled tales to your darlings at bedtime, because their effect before and during sleep are the strongest. The stories influence dreams which affect the children all through the night. This method of passing luminous information to the child’s world through fairytales is most beautiful. It will act as luminous medicine and fuel their pristine souls. Our little darlings will feel harmonized and happy, which is the most important thing we can want for them.

Book Description
Early in CanalesÍ collection, the young narrator gives her beloved grandmother the perfect Christmas present; she gives her the gift of the world. Through her descriptions, we see that world as she sees it, through the eyes of a child that is slowly moving into adolescence. In this twilight world, the author offers a shimmering picture of a family confronted with the issues that divide lives and love. In this collection of coming of age stories, Canales introduces the reader to the cultural traditions and activities of a community: homage to the Virgin of Guadalupe, the celebration of the day of the Three Magi, a carousel of unique saints, and a flock of very special pink plastic flamingoes. And through it all, with the passage of time the narrator discovers changes within herself and the community around her. CanalesÍ robust tales inhabit the mysterious and secret land that lies between the United States and Mexico, between child and adulthood, reality and the imagination, and between life and death. These haunting stories not only reveal, layer by layer, the fantastic in the ordinary, but, most importantly, the powerful and healing magic inside all of us. Long after the tales are finished, the reader will be left with the taste of orange candy slices.
