Book Description
Summer 1918. The First World War is drawing to a close when Léon Le Gall, a French teenager from Cherbourg who has dropped out of school and left home, falls in love with Louise Janvier. Both are severely wounded by German artillery fire, are separated, and believe each other to be dead. Briefly reunited two decades later, the two lovers are torn apart again by Louise's refusal to destroy Léon's marriage and by the German invasion of France. In occupied Paris during the Second World War, where Léon struggles against the abhorrent tasks imposed upon him by the SS, and the wilds of Africa, where Louise confronts the hardships of her primitive environment, they battle the vicissitudes of history and the passage of time for the survival of their love.

Book Description
Two great writers and their books that have had an influenced on me in the writing of this book are Jonathan Swifts (1667-1745) and John Bunyan (1628-1688). Jonathan Swift masterpiece titled 'Gulliver's Travels' was an allegorical attack on the hypocrisy of the human behavior that he witnessed in almost every level of life in England, especially on the political stage. John Bunyan was the author of another famous allegorical book about a soul in search of salvation-'Pilgrim's Progress.' I do not believe this book will in any way approach the level of these two great masterpieces, but like Swift and Bunyan, I too have some comments about the behavior of my fellow Spacelanders (as I like to refer to them). What do they really believe in? What have they committed and dedicated their lives to? Because I believe the answers to these questions are the determining factors of their behavior. Like all allegorical books you will need a great imagination. But as Oscar Wilde said, "Imagination is a quality given man to compensate him for what he is not, and a sense of humor was provided to console him for what he is." Edwin Willwerth has been married for over fifty years and is the father of three children. He was a high school mathematics teacher for thirty years. Besides teaching in several public and private schools within the United States, he has also taught in Paraguay for one year, Nepal for two years and China for six months. He has been very active in his local church, serving for a number of years as a Sunday School teacher and later as head of the Sunday School Department. He was the Missionary Director within his church for several years. He has also spent time on Missionary projects in Haiti and Campeche, Mexico.

Book Description
Two attractive, impulsive young people meet, fall in love, and decide they will find happiness together. Both are determined to leave their tranquil childhood home in the South and make a happy life together. Excited by stories of family members who have already left and prospered, the two of them elope and travel to California, only to find, as did so many others, hardship and heartbreak they never could have imagined. After becoming parents to four daughters and overcoming many trials together, our beautiful young couple realize there is one obstacle they can't overcome: alcoholism. The four sisters live the reality of life without a father: the financial hardships, the burdens of adult responsibilities at an early age, and the lack of love, instruction, and protection that they feel only their father could have provided. Meredith, the youngest of the four daughters, describes some of the events and heartaches experienced by the sisters and which she has carried deep in her memories.

Book Description
This volume is the first anthology of contemporary East German women's writing in English translation. It will introduce scholars and general readers to writers whose voices are essential to an understanding of the situation of women in today's changing Europe. Included are short stories, essays, autobiographical sketches, and excerpts from novels, written between 1974 and 1986 by women of the postwar generation. Their work reflects everyday life in the GDR before the fall of the Berlin Wall with vitality, sympathy, humor, and warmth. This literature has been of great significance within the GDR as a public forum for social-critical discussion, and in the West for its depiction—as the volume title suggests—of universal issues confronting women in modern society: women and work, women and family, women’s self-determination in relation to other people and social institutions. The twenty-five authors represented are Renate Apitz, Irene Böhme, Daniela Dahn, Gabriele Eckart, Christiane Grosz, Monika Helmecke, Helga Königsdorf, Angela Krauss, Katja Lange-Müller, Beate Morgenstern, Irmtraud Morgner, Christa Müller, Doris Paschiller, Helga Schubert, Helga Schütz, Maria Seidemann, Angela Stachowa, Gerti Tetzner, Maxie Wander, Petra Werner, Maja Wiens, Christa Wolf, Christina Wolter, Charlotte Worgitzky, and Rosemarie Zeplin. Notes and biographical introductions are provided for each story.
