Excerpt from Notes on Some Passages in the Liturgical History: Of the Reformed English Church The following Notes were suggested to the writer by the perusal of Mr. James Parker's recent Liturgical publications. They relate to some passages of history, which he had previously been led to investigate. It occurred to him that they might be put into a shape which might perhaps be acceptable to some of those whose studies have taken the same direction, without entering into any disputed or disputable questions of Ecclesiastical law. Those questions depend, not upon historical investigations of this kind, but upon the legal construction and effect of Statutes and other public documents. In the few references to questions of law which will be found in these pages, nothing has been advanced which the writer believes to be open to any variety of opinion.
