Many of my readers have doubtless heard of the man-o'-wars-man who. after his return from a voyage around the world, regaled his mother with tales of the sights he had seen. He told her of the time his ship anchored in the Red Sea and how, when the anchor was hoisted, they found a wheel of one of Pharaoh's Chariots hanging to a fluke - and the dear old lady never batted an eye! But when he told her of having seen flying fish - fish that actually emerged from the water and flew in the air - she said, with a reproachful look,14 John, you should not attempt to deceive your old mother!" Our relatives and friends are always interested in what we did, and what we saw. on "Our last cruise," and many of us have not the gift of word painting.
