Book Description
During the last three decades, interest in the field of interaction of microwaves with ferrimagnetics has steadily increased. Investigations in tlris field have led to the development of a number of devices used for a variety of applications. The initial emphasis of the investigators was on the microwave behavior of ferrimagnetics placed in cavities and metallic waveguides and associated devices. This work has been presented in various books, monographs, and reviews written during the sixties. In recent years, interest in microwave propagation in ferrimagnetics has shifted from loaded waveguides to relatively new areas, e. g. , magnetostatic and magnetoelastic waves in layered structures, microwave propagation in ferrimagnetic strip lines and microstrips, etc. Such investigations are important from the viewpoint of devices such as delay lines, filters, convolvers, guided wave amplifiers, striplines, and microstrip phase shif ters, circulators, edge guided mode isolators, etc. As such, we feit the need for a text (meant for graduate students starting work in these areas as weil as practicing electrical engineers and applied physicists) which presents a coherent account of the various aspects of propagation of microwaves (electromagnetic as weil as magnetoelastic) in biased ferrimagnetics and discusses the relatively recent developments in the theory and operation of the aforementioned devices, and this book is the result. A biased ferrimagnetic is, in the mathematical sense, a complicated medium, electromagnetically as weil as elastically.

Three-Dimensional Magnonics
Author: Gianluca Gubbiotti
Publisher: CRC Press
ISBN: 1000024385
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 417
Book Description
Magnonics, a research field that uses spin waves, collective excitations of ordered magnetic materials, or magnons (their quanta) as a tool for signal processing, communication, and computation, has rapidly grown during the past decade because of the low-energy consumption and potential compatibility with next-generation circuits beyond CMOS electronics. The interest in 3D magnonic nanostructures follows the latest trend in conventional electronics based on expansion from 2D planar to 3D vertically integrated structures. To remain on the same technological level, a similar expansion should be realized in magnonics. Following this trend, this book provides an overview of recent developments in the exploitation of the third dimension in magnonics, with special focus on the propagation of spin waves in layered magnonic crystals, spin textures, curved surfaces, 3D nano-objects, and cavity magnonics.

Electromagnetic Materials - Proceedings Of The Symposium R
Author: Hock Lim
Publisher: World Scientific
ISBN: 9814479810
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 293
Book Description
This volume comprises the main ideas and the latest results in the study of electromagnetic materials, as presented at the Symposium on Electromagnetic Materials, ICMAT 2005.The high quality contributions reflect the principle aims of the conference: to provide an international forum for scientists and engineers to report their most recent research findings, to exchange ideas and information, and to nuture and establish research ties. Electromagnetic materials have both civilian and defence applications, such as novel antenna designs, protection against high power transients in densely packed printed circuits, and special frequency response or polarization response to meet component or system specifications. An in-depth understanding of the responses of materials to electromagnetic waves may even enable us to design and fabricate materials with properties not found in nature.

Microwave Properties Of Magnetic Films
Author: Carmine Vittoria
Publisher: World Scientific
ISBN: 9814504114
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 251
Book Description
Previous works on this subject tended to be too specialised, making it difficult for students who lack the necessary background in this subject to follow. This book attempts to remedy the situation by providing students from other disciplines the basic background necessary to understand the discussion in this book. In this way, it provides a bridge between basic science and applications/course work. The book begins by presenting the fundamental principles of microwave materials using electrical engineering terminology, hence providing the necessary background before it discusses well-known physical concepts or solid state. Having reviewed the basic concepts, it goes on to discuss a systematic procedure of describing the microwave properties of materials. The organised and comprehensive nature of the book makes it a very useful reading and reference source.
