Book Description
Darwin figured it out 150 years ago. The Theory of Natural Selection. Survival of the fittest. Remember that from junior high biology? The strongest, smartest, fastest, most attractive members of an animal species succeed in winning mates, thus assuring the survival-and gradual evolution-of their breed. Think about it. . .and then feel good about yourself. After all, you've survived. You spring from a long line of winners. Well done! But what comes of the less fit. . .those that nature does not select? You know. . . the slow-witted and weak, the dim and the just plain dorky. Well, but for the work of one man, we likely would never know. Luckily, Gary Larson has chronicled the mishaps, maladies, and miserable failures of these less-than-alpha males and females in The Far Side. By paying special attention to the peculiar mating rituals practiced by The Far Side's subjects (dogs, cows, clowns, apes, nerds, etc.), Larson has over the years developed what amounts to the definitive treatise on inept courtship behavior. Call it Larson's own Theory of Natural Rejection. Each week, this little gem of a calendar presents a rare, behind-the-scenes glimpse at nature's chronic romantic underachievers. It's like that show Blind Date except starring insects, aliens, farm animals, and cavemen. Read these cartoons. Laugh if you must. But above all, learn. Learn from their mistakes. Because like it or not, the continued viability of the species depends on you. We thank you, and Charles Darwin thanks you. The Far Side. is a registered trademark of FarWorks, Inc.

Book Description
Cheer Up, Mate! is a compilation of comical tales and anecdotes from World War Two. Between 1939 and 1945 the world witnessed what is generally agreed to be the most horrific war in history. Millions died and millions more were physically or psychologically wounded by the conflict. Yet amidst the pain and devastation, people were not only able to survive, they also managed to maintain a sense of humour. For some, it was precisely this ability to laugh at their misfortunes (and those of the other side) that enabled them to solider on. This was especially true of the British, a nation whose reaction to more or less anything, up to and including someone’s house being bombed to rubble, tended to be, ‘never mind, have a cup of tea’. In this collection of stories, which covers the armed forces and civilians from both sides, Alan Weeks demonstrates how humour can survive even in the most unlikely of circumstances.

Book Description
How many times have you and your friends asked one another these questions without ever coming up with any good answers? Your girlfriends just tell you what you want to hear. At the end of the day, the only person who can give you insight into man problems is—that’s right—a man! But guys have hidden agendas. What guy would give up all his dating advantages by spilling the goods? Steve Santagati would. A self-confessed serial dater and Bad Boy, Steve is telling all for the benefit of womankind. Every guy is at least part Bad Boy, and in The Manual, this prime specimen reveals what every woman needs to know to counter Bad Boy tactics, both amateur and professional. Steve is never condescending or callous, but honest, perceptive, and street-smart. His guidance is straightforward and his insights are dead-on, giving women tools they can immediately put to work. Discover what you may not want to know but need to know about: •The Heart of the Bad Boy (i.e., the nature of the beast) •The Male Mind: how he sees you and how you can make this work to your advantage •Guys on the Hunt: the male modus operandi, from the grocery store to Home Depot •When Boy Meets Girl: how to handle dating, from flirting to “sext” messaging to learning his weaknesses •Mating: so you’ve got him . . . should you keep him? Why learn from a Bad Boy instead of, say, a psychologist? Because there’s no replacement for “in the field” experience. You’ll benefit from (and laugh at) stories of real things Steve has done in relationships with women as well as of women turning the tables on him when he least expected it. The book also includes a question-and-answer section, in which Steve explores some of the toughest dating issues. To understand Steve is to understand the Bad Boy, and that will take you a long way in understanding all men. Find out how much more fun dating can be when you get the upper hand on Bad Boys . . . for good.
