Book Description
Café Romance is an intense romantic novel, sprinkled with sadness, joy, adventure, betrayal, sexual tension and emotional excitement. This is a dazzling and exotic and heartwarming, down-to-earth contemporary love story about an independent, self-made woman who discovers she is falling in love with a handsome stranger; a man who rescued her from a very violent and heart-wrenching carjacking attempt. The setting is the balmy coastal city of Tampa Bay, Florida; the city my leading character has recently relocated to. The two strangers serendipitously meet again, and from that point on, by design. In time, they find themselves growing on one other. Problem is my leading lady is being pursued by another love interest, a man she befriended several years earlier. As she wrestles with her feelings for both men, she is unaware that the handsome hunk she has fallen for is keeping an interesting secret from her, and that an old flame of his still has eyes for him as well. Add to this, he has a deep longing to be reunited with his lovely estranged wife. When these issues come to light, and certain characters in my book cross paths, there is an abundance of fireworks the likes you'd expect to find at a 4th of July celebration.

A heartwarming exploration of community, integrity, and having the courage to change course, even in the face of adversity. Book Description
In this crazy old fast-moving world, it's nice to slow down, chill out, look around, and sip your way through a great cup of coffee. Maybe two. It's nice to have somewhere to go where the rough edge of life can't get to you...and the smooth edge can give you all the time and space you need to be with the people you want to be with. Love & Coffee is one of those rare creatures: a story about emotions and taste buds. About all the ups and downs of life squeezed into an ongoing chronicle and split into fascinating five minute reads. Or fifteen if you take it nice and slow. Perfect whether you have a short attention span...or a long one. It's a pick-me-up, put-me-down, never-lose-your-place kinda book about romance and coffee beans. About feeling good, trying not to feel bad, and listening to the kind of music that puts problems on the back burner, even if only for a little while. It's about looking back, looking forward, and looking right here, right now. About love won, love lost, love desperately needed, even love out of sight but definitely not out of mind. It's about great Espressos, Cappuccinos, Lattes, and Americanos. Intense relationships and casual friendships. Strangers who meet for half an hour then go their separate ways. And couples who mate for life and go everywhere together. Love & Coffee is a sanctuary. One packed full of smiles and laughter, tears and heartaches, peace and quiet, passions and conversations. And good old fashioned thinking. On the outside, it might seem like the story of an ordinary city centre coffee shop. On the inside, it's a million miles away from ordinary. Maybe two. And right at its heart, serving up the best damned drink on the planet, is Little Italy. Someone who doesn't take any crap, never turns away anyone in need, and always seems to know more about everyone else than she lets on. So come in and join me. Sit yourself down. Warm yourself up. See the world through my eyes...

Book Description
this study, an analysis of poetry in Tina Sambal, a Philippine language spoken by about 70,000 persons in northern Zambales province, looks at the characteristics of the different poetic genres and poetic conventions followed in writing songs and poems. Primary emphasis is on phonological restrictions, grammatical liberties, and semantic embellishments. The first chapter describes Tina Sambal poetic genres and their use, focusing on the changing use of songs and poems, 11 specific song types (religious poetry, hortatory songs, life-story songs, entertaining songs, comical songs, compositions for special occasions, poems, serenading and caroling songs, courting songs, love letters, and sad love songs), functions of Tina Sambal songs and poems, traditional singing customs, and comparison with other Philippine languages. The second chapter examines the Tina Sambal poetic conventions, and the third chapter offers a brief conclusion. A separate section--and the longest in the book--consists of a "Chrestomathy" containing typical Tina Sambal poems and songs and an excerpt from one Tina Sambal Passion, each with an introduction and free translation, grouped according to genre. Appended materials include notes on typical features of Tina Sambal orthography and grammar; terms relating to poetry and song; esoteric words used; an index of authors, singers, and contributors; transcriptions of song melodies; and a list of available recorded songs. A glossary of technical terms and a list of references are also included. (MSE)
