El exilio provocado por la Guerra Civil es un tema de investigación que, en el caso de Andalucía, estaba por estudiar, a diferencia de los que ocurre en otras comunidades, como Cataluña, País Vasco, Valencia, y Extremadura, territorios que desde hace años cuentan con trabajos rigurosos acerca de la huella indeleble que el éxodo republicano imprimió sus respectivas sociedades. Un impacto que en Andalucía fue enorme, no sólo por la cantidad de andaluces que lo sufrieron –cifrado en torno a 45.000 a 50.000 personas -, sino también por el alto coste social, cultural, profesional y económico que llevó aparejada su marcha, ya que en gran medida fueron las clases medias profesionales (maestros, médicos, funcionarios, etc.) las protagonistas de este éxodo de larga duración, que en muchos casos llegó hasta la muerte de Franco en 1975. Los avances en este ámbito de investigación ven ahora la luz en la publicación Los andaluces en el exilio del 39, volumen coordinado por el catedrático de la Universidad de Almería Fernando Martínez López, que se incluye en la colección Cuadernos de Andalucía en la Historia Contemporánea del Centro de Estudios Andaluces. La obra recoge así la huida de la región de las grandes personalidades políticas, profesionales y literarias y, sobre todo, pone el foco en la gente corriente, un amplio grupo de “invisibles” u “olvidados” formado por “niños, mujeres, obreros y campesinos” que conforman un sujeto histórico del que apenas se sabe nada. El lector encontrará en este libro el momento actual y las temáticas que sostienen las últimas investigaciones del exilio, las referencias de las fuentes documentales de los archivos franceses, así como los lugares de refugio de los republicanos andaluces, las vicisitudes de sus itinerarios y cómo fueron acogidos en Francia, la URSS, norte de África y las repúblicas latinoamericanas. The expulsion of the Moriscos from Spain (1609-1614) represents an important episode of ethnic, political and religious cleansing which affected about 300,000 persons. The controversial measure was legimitized by an ideology of religious and political unity that served to defend the expulsion of them all, crypto-Muslims and sincere converts to Christianity alike. The first part focuses on the decision to expel the Moriscos, its historical context and the role of such institutions as the Vatican and the religious orders, and nations such as France, Italy, the Dutch Republic, Morocco and the Ottoman Empire. This volume approaches the history of water in the Iberian Peninsula in a novel way, by linking it to the ongoing international debate on water crisis and solutions to overcome the lack of water in the Mediterranean. What water devices were found? What were the models for these devices? How were they distributed in the villas and monastic enclosures? What impact did hydraulic theoretical knowledge have on these water systems, and how could these systems impact on hydraulic technology? Guided by these questions, this book covers the history of water in the most significant cities, the role of water in landscape transformation, the irrigation systems and water devices in gardens and villas, and, lastly, the theoretical and educational background on water management and hydraulics in the Iberian Peninsula between the sixteenth and the nineteenth centuries. Historiography on water management in the territory that is today Spain has highlighted the region’s role as a mediator between the Islamic masters of water and the Christian world. The history of water in Portugal is less known, and it has been taken for granted that is similar to its neighbour. It provides a new set of historical GDP estimates for Spain from the demand and supply sides, and presents a reconstruction of production and expenditure series for the century prior to the introduction of modern national accounts. The author splices available national accounts sets over the period 1958–2015 through interpolation, as an alternative to conventional retropolation. The resulting national accounts series are linked to the historical estimates providing yearly series for GDP and its components since 1850. On the basis of new population estimates, the author derives GDP per head, decomposed into labour productivity and the amount of work per person, and placed into international perspective. It has become widely accepted among musicologists that medieval music is most profitably studied from interdisciplinary perspectives that situate it within broad cultural contexts.
