Book Description
A family is taking a vacation trip, when the father decides to take a shortcut. The problem is that the shortcut leaves them without mobile phone signal, without Internet connection and, a while later, without fuel enough to get to their destination. There isn’t even a gas station nearby. Night comes slowly and the only place where they can ask for help is an old house in the middle of an extensive cane plantation. A crooked and suspicious house. A house that is weird on the outside and much weirder on the inside. A house which many people never got out of. And which this family may never escape either.

Book Description
This volume presents the first of several Late Hellenistic buildings that were uncovered on the island of Mochlos, located off the northeastern coast of Crete, during the Greek-American excavations of the last 25 years. It also provides an introduction to the Hellenistic settlement that flourished on the island for nearly a century before it was abandoned. The Hellenistic remains overlay much of the Late Minoan III and Neopalatial settlement. Due to the excavation of both the Bronze Age and later phases of the town, the publication of this Hellenistic building includes paleoenvironmental material (among all the other artifacts), which is often neglected in excavations of historical material. The role that Mochlos played in East Crete is discussed and conclusions are drawn about its relations with Hierapytna during the Late Hellenistic period.

Book Description
Married or Single?, published in 1857, was Catharine Maria Sedgwick's final novel and a fitting climax to the career of one of antebellum America's first and most successful woman writers. Insisting on women's right to choose whether to marry, Married or Single? rejects the stigma of spinsterhood and offers readers a wider range of options for women in society, recognizing their need and ability to determine the course of their lives. Sedgwick's touching, witty, and shrewdly observant novel centers on Grace Herbert, a New York City socialite who must negotiate the marriage market and also learn to develop her own character and take control of her own destiny. The story merges a wide range of popular American literary forms--including the seduction novel, the conversion narrative, the novel of education, and social reform fiction--and provides a window on many of the cultural and political anxieties of the 1850s beyond marriage, including immigration, slavery, and urban poverty. Sedgwick's lifelong concern with women's duties to the nation as citizens is demonstrated through her depiction of exemplary women of various backgrounds and circumstances who illustrate the idea that becoming a worthy human being is more important than becoming a wife, especially in a democratic society.

Book Description
In The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, a sequel to The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Huck escapes from the clutches of his abusive drunk father ‘Pap’, and the ‘sivilizing’ guardian Widow Douglas. After faking his own death in pursuit of freedom, during one of his travels, Huck, encounters Jim, a runaway slave. Together, they embark on an exciting journey along the Mississippi River, meeting different people and participating in their unusual lives. With time, Huck finds himself in a moral dilemma over societal values and his own friendship with Jim. First published in 1884, the book was an indictment of racism, class prejudices and identity conflicts. Regarded as one of the Great American Novels, this timeless classic by Mark Twain is also among the first in American literature to be written in regional English, relying on scathing satire, folksy humour, colloquial speech and coarse language.
