Concurremment, le gouvernement du Québec choisit la majorité des personnes immigrantes pour leur potentiel d’insertion socioprofessionnelle dans le marché du travail québécois. Ce potentiel d’insertion est entre autres mesuré en fonction du nombre d’années de scolarité. Or, de nombreux immigrants arrivent au Québec après avoir effectué très peu d’années d’étude. Si plusieurs chercheurs se sont penchés sur les processus d’insertion socioprofessionnelle des immigrants dits « qualifiés » ou « économiques », très peu de recherches portent sur ces mêmes processus pour la population immigrante peu scolarisée. Cette étude qualitative a ainsi pour objectif d’explorer l’expérience d’insertion socioprofessionnelle des personnes immigrantes peu scolarisées en s’appuyant sur les concepts de la théorie de la transition. Les données recueillies lors des entrevues avec sept personnes immigrantes peu scolarisées engagées dans un programme d’insertion a permis de mieux comprendre les motivations qui les mènent à intégrer le marché du travail par l’entremise d’un programme d’intégration socioprofessionnelle, à identifier les caractéristiques personnelles et environnementales qui favorisent ce processus ainsi qu’à explorer les adaptations qui favorisent son bon déroulement.

The linguistic integration of migrants affects every aspect of settling in a new country (employment, health, etc.). The aim of this collection of texts is to propose a number of specific measures member states can take to help adult migrants become acquainted with the language of the host country. The main focus is on organising language courses that meet migrants’ real communication needs.
