Notre objectif dans ce travail est très précis : il s'agit de donner aux apprenants de l'arabe langue étrangère un instrument linguistique qui réponde à leurs besoins : un dictionnaire sélectif à vocation pédagogique qui se borne aux unités lexicales les plus utiles en vue de l'apprentissage du système langagier élémentaire de l'arabe moderne. Posant comme prémisse que le dictionnaire est un outil fort important pour les apprenants en langue étrangère, nous avons pris comme axe charnière de notre recherche le rapport de ces deux pôles : dictionnaire et enseignement des langues étrangères. Nous nous sommes attachés surtout à des dictionnaires scolaires pour des débutants étrangers. Il s'agit donc d'une observation directe du dictionnaire tel qu'il est apparu à la date la plus récente et cela au regard des apports théoriques et pédagogiques récents à l'enseignement du lexique. Le dictionnaire tel qu'il existe est-il en harmonie cohérente avec la didactique actuelle ? Ceci exige une large réflexion et une analyse approfondie des trravaux lexicographiques déjà réalisés dans ce domaine. Aux termes de cette analyse, nous avons fait le bilan des lacunes et des imperfections. Cette étude nous a permis de mettre en place notre méthodologie concernant l'élaboration d'un dictionnaire groupant le vocabulaire fondamental destiné l'enseignement de l'arabe : un vocabulaire simple, courant, compréhensible par tous les arabophones ,qui réponde aux besoins lexicaux immédiats des usagers . Ce dictionnaire intéresserait un public non négligeable du pooint de vue du nombre et de la diversité: 1)Pays arabes : public scolaire (exemple : élèves du primaire) 2) France : a - Initiation à l'arabe à l'université. b - Elèves du secondaire ayant choisi l'arabe commelangue étrangère. 3 - Public d'origine arabe : élèves et étudiants nés en France (appelés communément "seconde génération" parlant le français mais dont la langue maternelle est l'arabe)

The craft of icon-making is set into the context of forms of worship that emerged in the Russian Orthodox Church in the mid-seventeenth century.
