Lejos de contribuir a la eliminación de las desigualdades, estos nuevos entornos y recursos de socialización ahondan en las diferencias sociales existentes al tiempo que generan otras nuevas. Con estas tendencias como telón de fondo, y con una escuela cada vez más debilitada en su labor niveladora de las diferencias sociales, Jóvenes en la encrucijada digital identifica qué grupos de jóvenes son más propensos a desarrollar conductas problemáticas y cuáles incorporan las tecnologías digitales en sus repertorios de uso sin mayor distorsión. Y lo hace a través de un análisis atento a los nuevos recursos de socialización y movilidad social (capitales digitales) y sus bases institucionales (instituciones digitales). El presente volumen afirma que ni la condición socioeconómica ni el nivel cultural de las familias de los/as jóvenes, por importantes que resulten, son suficientes para comprender los procesos de socialización digital ni el modo que perpetúan las desigualdades prexistentes, además de propiciar otras nuevas. Por el contrario se propone que las tecnologías digitales, en tanto entornos de socialización en toda regla, redefinen las funciones de la familia, la escuela y los grupos de pares.

Teaching Character and Virtue in Schools addresses the contemporary issues of quantification and measurement in educational settings.
