Book Description
The main goal of this book is to present a summary of the state of the art historical background. Conventional chemical pest control methods are mentioned only as a means of comparison to controlled release. Research endeavour with biological weapons, potential usage of such controls, and the few instances of success are likewise brought into focus with the same motive. Formulations and methods or preparing controlled release pesticides are discussed in some detail as concerns the antifouling and molluscicide areas, where the compounding methodology has been well developed. The mathematical basis of controlled release has been developed to an extent and is presented in an abbreviated form.

Book Description
The discovery in 1922 of the exceptional effectiveness of tetraethyllead in suppressing knock in the combustion of gasoline in engines and its introduction as a gasoline additive in 1923 stimulated an enormous number of studies on procedures for its synthesis and industrial production, on its behavior and uses, and also on the toxicology of this compound and on its environmental impact resulting from large scale lead distribution. The results of these investigations are collected in more than 3000 papers and patents. The quantity of information on this prominent compound fills the second volume of the series on organo lead compounds. Complete literature coverage was strived for but not all of the voluminous patent data have been considered. Certain publications on production of tetraethyllead or on use as a gasoline additive that are not reported in Chemical Abstracts (C.A.) may not have been found; similarly, publications that could not be clearly identified as relevant to the subject might be missing. Publications concerning the fate of inorganic lead compounds that are products of the combustion of leaded gasoline as weil as the vast amount of related papers on analytical and toxicological studies and on health and environmental aspects have been deliberately omitted. The literature is covered through 1988; C.A. has been evaluated through volume 110 of 1989.

Book Description
For the first time the discipline of modern inorganic chemistry has been systematized according to a plan constructed by a council of editorial advisors and consultants, among them three Nobel laureates (E.O. Fischer, H. Taube and G. Wilkinson). Rather than producing a collection of unrelated review articles, the series creates a framework which reflects the creative potential of this scientific discipline. Thus, it stimulates future development by identifying areas which are fruitful for further research. The work is indexed in a unique way by a structured system which maximizes its usefulness to the reader. It augments the organization of the work by providing additional routes of access for specific compounds, reactions and other topics.

Book Description
Pergamon Texts in Inorganic Chemistry, Volume 14: The Chemistry of Germanium, Tin, and Lead focuses on the properties, characteristics, transformations, and reactions of lead, germanium, and tin. The book focuses on germanium and compounds of Ge(I) and Ge(II). Discussions focus on germanium(II) compounds of phosphorus and arsenic, germanium(II) imide and nitride, monohalides, analytical determination, biological activity, chemical behavior of germanium, and production and industrial use of germanium. The text then elaborates on organogermanium compounds, complexes of germanium(IV), and tin. Topics include nuclear magnetic resonance, chemical properties of tin metal, isotopes of tin, occurrence and distribution of tin, and fluorogermanates and chlorogermanates. The manuscript takes a look at nuclear magnetic resonance, extraction, industrial and commercial utilization, toxicity, and chemical properties of metallic lead. The publication is a vital source of data for researchers interested in the chemistry of lead, germanium, and tin.

Book Description
Lead covers the salient aspects of the chemistry of lead, its environmental impact, and its effects on health. The technical, economic and social importance of Lead, at the present time, is beyond all doubt. However, over the last few decades little attention has been given to its behaviour (the properties and applications of its compounds, the environmental distribution of these derivatives, and their impacts on living creatures), this book addresses that gap. It includes coverage of historical aspects, lead mining and production, metal properties, common lead compounds, uses of lead and its derivatives, coordination chemistry, organometallic chemistry, environmental chemistry, toxicity mechanisms, and treatment strategies for lead poisoning. Finally, describing analytical procedures for the determination of lead in chemical, biological and environmental samples. Written by a team of university teachers and researchers with extensive experience in the fields of the chemistry, analytical determination and environmental and health impact of lead and other heavy metals For readers interested in the chemistry and biochemistry of lead and its effects on ecosystems Provides comprehensive knowledge about lead toxicity and preventive measures against lead poisoning

Book Description
Lead 65 documents the proceedings of the Second International Conference on Lead held in Arnhem, 4-7 October 1965. The conference was organized by the Lead Development Association on behalf of the European Lead Development Committee (ELDC). In these Edited Proceedings will be found the full text of 34 papers presented during the conference together with an account of the discussion which followed presentation of each paper or related groups of papers. The book opens with a discussion of trends in world lead consumption. The remainder of the book is organized into four sections. The papers in Section 1 focus on dispersion strengthened lead. Section 2 presents studies on lead cable sheathing. Section 3 examines lead acid batteries for various applications while the papers in Section 4 deal with chemical and other applications of lead.
