A review of the empirical literature on the relationship between religious orientation and mental health is also included. Chapter 3 consists of a review of the literature on the relationship between religious orientation and authoritarianism. Chapter 4 consists of a review of the literature on the relationship between religious orientation and concepts considered important for mental health by existential psychologists, specifically meaning in life and existential confrontation.
