Book Description
This brief presents a description of a new modelling framework for nonlinear/geometric control theory. The framework is intended to be—and shown to be—feedback-invariant. As such, Tautological Control Systems provides a platform for understanding fundamental structural problems in geometric control theory. Part of the novelty of the text stems from the variety of regularity classes, e.g., Lipschitz, finitely differentiable, smooth, real analytic, with which it deals in a comprehensive and unified manner. The treatment of the important real analytic class especially reflects recent work on real analytic topologies by the author. Applied mathematicians interested in nonlinear and geometric control theory will find this brief of interest as a starting point for work in which feedback invariance is important. Graduate students working in control theory may also find Tautological Control Systems to be a stimulating starting point for their research.

Book Description
This book is devoted to the interplay between complex and symplectic geometry in affine complex manifolds. Affine complex (a.k.a. Stein) manifolds have canonically built into them symplectic geometry which is responsible for many phenomena in complex geometry and analysis. The goal of the book is the exploration of this symplectic geometry (the road from 'Stein to Weinstein') and its applications in the complex geometric world of Stein manifolds (the road 'back').

Book Description
This book provides a comprehensive introduction to the field of several complex variables in the setting of a very special but basic class of domains, the so-called Reinhardt domains. In this way the reader may learn much about this area without encountering too many technical difficulties. Chapter 1 describes the fundamental notions and the phenomenon of simultaneous holomorphic extension. Chapter 2 presents a fairly complete discussion of biholomorphisms of bounded (complete) Reinhardt domains in the two dimensional case. The third chapter gives a classification of Reinhardt domains of existence for the most important classes of holomorphic functions. The last chapter deals with invariant functions and gives explicit calculations of many of them on certain Reinhardt domains. Numerous exercises are included to help the readers with their understanding of the material. Further results and open problems are added which may be useful as seminar topics. The primary aim of this book is to introduce students or non-experts to some of the main research areas in several complex variables. The book provides a friendly invitation to this field as the only prerequisite is a basic knowledge of analysis.

Book Description
As in the field of "Invariant Distances and Metrics in Complex Analysis" there was and is a continuous progress this is now the second extended edition of the corresponding monograph. This comprehensive book is about the study of invariant pseudodistances (non-negative functions on pairs of points) and pseudometrics (non-negative functions on the tangent bundle) in several complex variables. It is an overview over a highly active research area at the borderline between complex analysis, functional analysis and differential geometry. New chapters are covering the Wu, Bergman and several other metrics. The book considers only domains in Cn and assumes a basic knowledge of several complex variables. It is a valuable reference work for the expert but is also accessible to readers who are knowledgeable about several complex variables. Each chapter starts with a brief summary of its contents and continues with a short introduction. It ends with an "Exercises" and a "List of problems" section that gathers all the problems from the chapter. The authors have been highly successful in giving a rigorous but readable account of the main lines of development in this area.

Book Description
For more than thirty years the senior author has been trying to learn algebraic geometry. In the process he discovered that many of the classic textbooks in algebraic geometry require substantial knowledge of cohomology, homological algebra, and sheaf theory. In an attempt to demystify these abstract concepts and facilitate understanding for a new generation of mathematicians, he along with co-author wrote this book for an audience who is familiar with basic concepts of linear and abstract algebra, but who never has had any exposure to the algebraic geometry or homological algebra. As such this book consists of two parts. The first part gives a crash-course on the homological and cohomological aspects of algebraic topology, with a bias in favor of cohomology. The second part is devoted to presheaves, sheaves, Cech cohomology, derived functors, sheaf cohomology, and spectral sequences. All important concepts are intuitively motivated and the associated proofs of the quintessential theorems are presented in detail rarely found in the standard texts.
