Book Description
This report examines the findings of a study by Bell Atlantic, IBM, and Siemens which investigated the role of the Intelligent Network in telecommunications. It considers current trends and future developments, on a national and international level. This report defines and describes the concept of the Intelligent Network and considers the operating requirements (including the hardware and software) and the types of service a network user can expect. Concepts, definitions, and terminology reflect the status of the Intelligent Network in 1988. Actual implementation may differ due to the constantly changing environment, new requirements, and experiences with existing solutions. The report is divided into six parts: Part 1 introduces the concept of the Intelligent Network, and describes elements common to alLIN services. It considers the application program and network management requirements, and provides examples of the hardware and software proposed for implementing the network. Parts 2 through 6 include detailed descriptions of specific IN services. In each part there is a functional service description and an application description. The reader is expected to have a general knowledge and understanding of existing telecommunication networks.

It provides you with a comprehensive survey of current and emerging intelligent telecommunications networks, including underlying software, implementation, deployment and standards. It assesses the influence of mobile networks and IP technology on the directions that IN is taking now, and looks at the way middleware is reducing the dependence of service logic on the underlying network protocols. Moreover, it discusses the role of IN in tomorrow's network. Next Generation Intelligent Networks investigates how service creation is taking on board state-of-the-art distributed object-oriented programming techniques. The book focuses on emerging software architectures for programming and deploying value-added services, and proposes a vision of value-added services in the network of the future. Learn how new initiatives such as Soft switches, JAIN, Parlay, OSA, TINA and CAMEL help you to more effectively handle the new challenges brought on by the rapid growth of cellular mobile networks and the Internet.

Book Description
Is the Intelligent Network scope manageable? What are the expected benefits of Intelligent Network to the business? Who will provide the final approval of Intelligent Network deliverables? Do the Intelligent Network decisions we make today help people and the planet tomorrow? Who needs to know about Intelligent Network ? Defining, designing, creating, and implementing a process to solve a challenge or meet an objective is the most valuable role... In EVERY group, company, organization and department. Unless you are talking a one-time, single-use project, there should be a process. Whether that process is managed and implemented by humans, AI, or a combination of the two, it needs to be designed by someone with a complex enough perspective to ask the right questions. Someone capable of asking the right questions and step back and say, 'What are we really trying to accomplish here? And is there a different way to look at it?' This Self-Assessment empowers people to do just that - whether their title is entrepreneur, manager, consultant, (Vice-)President, CxO etc... - they are the people who rule the future. They are the person who asks the right questions to make Intelligent Network investments work better. This Intelligent Network All-Inclusive Self-Assessment enables You to be that person. All the tools you need to an in-depth Intelligent Network Self-Assessment. Featuring new and updated case-based questions, organized into seven core areas of process design, this Self-Assessment will help you identify areas in which Intelligent Network improvements can be made. In using the questions you will be better able to: - diagnose Intelligent Network projects, initiatives, organizations, businesses and processes using accepted diagnostic standards and practices - implement evidence-based best practice strategies aligned with overall goals - integrate recent advances in Intelligent Network and process design strategies into practice according to best practice guidelines Using a Self-Assessment tool known as the Intelligent Network Scorecard, you will develop a clear picture of which Intelligent Network areas need attention. Your purchase includes access details to the Intelligent Network self-assessment dashboard download which gives you your dynamically prioritized projects-ready tool and shows your organization exactly what to do next.
