La troisième partie était une étude clinique montrant les ressemblances entre les profils de déglutition d'enfants I.M.O.C., tous suivis en orthophonie (prise en charge de type Bobath). L'évolution de la déglutition repose sur la motricité globale, le degré de dépendance, les aptitudes praxiques, perceptives et communicationnelles. Tous ces domaines pouvant être perturbés de manière individuelle par l'infirmité motrice d'origine cérébrale, il n'a pas été possible de trouver une évolution de la déglutition liée à l'âge à travers notre échantillon. Nous avons donc substitué à l'âge un critère de maturité de la déglutition. Nous avons conclu sur les raisons possibles d'une déglutition non-mature, et les compétences jouant en faveur d'une meilleure maturité de la déglutition chez les enfants testés.

Although speech-language pathologists are expected to be able to administer and interpret oral examinations, there are currently no screening tests available that provide careful administration instructions and data for intra-examiner and inter-examiner reliability. The Oral Speech Mechanism Screening Examination (OSMSE) is designed primarily for use by clinical speech-language pathologists. The examination could also serve, however, as a useful tool for oral myofunctional therapists, as well as physical therapists, dentists, and orthodontists interested specifically in speech. It is reliable, relatively easy and quick to administer, and appropriate for children and adults in either diagnostic or therapy settings. The OSMSE is intended to assess those anatomical structures and physiological functions that are most often considered to be potentially related to speech or language disorders. Structural and/or functional judgments included are organized on the OSMSE test form under categories of: lips, tongue, jaw, teeth, hard palate, soft palate, pharynx, breathing, and diadochokinesis. Results of a preliminary study with normal speaking subjects indicated that the OSMSE had satisfactory intra- and inter-examiner reliability after minimal training. The time required to administer the examination typically ranged from 5 to 10 minutes. (Author/GK)

The Bereaved Child: Analysis, Education, and Treatment. An ab stracted bibliography is a comprehensive abstracted bibliography focusing on the reactions and coping mechanisms of children and adolescents to the death of parents, siblings, friends, teachers, pets or even presidents. Publication~ dealing with both normative and pathological stages of bereavement are reviewed. Materials covering childhood concepts/attitudes toward death are included. Articles are reviewed which deal with the importance of the adult role in the mourning process of the child. For example, decisions such as whether a child should attend a funeral or return to school are examined. The Bereaved Child contains over 550 citations in author alphabetized and abstracted form. Only English-written books and periodicals are represented.
