Book Description
Science Fiction stories are usually set in unfamiliar unknown worlds or societies of the future. These stories are not set in the world as we know it and in fact, that is one reason that they have been dismissed in the past as stories for children alongside fairy stories.Science fiction writers conceptualize the possible forms of future science and technology and then envision the impacts of these future developments on human life. Science fiction writers talk about unknown worlds in their stories either in terms of time or space or both. Many a time, some elements of these imaginative worlds, created by science fiction writers, may turn out to be reality one day. Yet, science fiction writers are neither soothsayers nor prophets, they only project probabilities. Science fiction is a hybrid genre of literature in which a perfect blending of fiction and at least some science is needed which requires a great skill of writing. However, essentially, it is a genre of story writing, and not science communication, with even more license of make-believe than that available to realist fiction writers. It must consist of all the characteristics of a story.

Book Description
The New Routledge Companion to Science Fiction provides an overview of the study of science fiction across multiple academic fields. It offers a new conceptualisation of the field today, marking the significant changes that have taken place in sf studies over the past 15 years. Building on the pioneering research in the first edition, the collection reorganises historical coverage of the genre to emphasise new geographical areas of cultural production and the growing importance of media beyond print. It also updates and expands the range of frameworks that are relevant to the study of science fiction. The periodisation has been reframed to include new chapters focusing on science fiction produced outside the Anglophone context, including South Asian, Latin American, Chinese and African diasporic science fiction. The contributors use both well- established critical and theoretical approaches and embrace a range of new ones, including biopolitics, climate crisis, critical ethnic studies, disability studies, energy humanities, game studies, medical humanities, new materialisms and sonic studies. This book is an invaluable resource for students and established scholars seeking to understand the vast range of engagements with science fiction in scholarship today.

Book Description
The Coronavirus Pandemic was the single biggest battle of humanity against the unseen. Whenever the world has ever needed answers to some prominent questions, it has either turned to history or the imagination of philosophers, scientists and also the fictionists. Science Fiction, as a genre, aims to unlock the limitations created by the 'known' and the 'real', and explore the plausible with a backdrop of experience and observation. Few of the most revered Indian Science-Fictionists have created their own renditions of the Cavid-19 story of India, predicting the best-cases, worst-cases as well as other scenarios that we could have had to face. The essence of these stories is in 'how we would have arrived at that stage and what we would have done before and after it. The more we got to learn abou the virus, the less we seemed to know about the beings of the Universe as well as our own future. And with such a rising uncertainty, all we could do was hope for the best and be prepared for the worst. -RISHABH DUBEY 'KRIDIOUS

Book Description
Of all the numbers, if you were to pick the highest, what would it be? Where will the 'highest' end? This baffling and provocative question is at the core of the remarkable and inspiring science fiction book, The Power of Zero and other sci-fi stories. In this collection of short stories based on Indian science fiction, Mr Anant goes beyond known elements and dives into what it means to combine the ancient Vedic technologies garbed in the form of mythology and modern scientific advancements. If you feel Vedic myth does have scientific basis or you believe but not quite sure how to imagine creatively, this is the book for you. Make no mistake, the stories Mr Anant weave sound simple and elegant, but have had a lot of thinking gone into unraveling the intricacies of patterns common to past and future.

Book Description
This book contains transcripts from Online Alpha discussions where the epic and narrative structure of SPACE 1999 is being discussed by comparing episodes with themes, characters and elements of plot from the Homeric Odyssey and Lewis Carroll's stories about Alice. The discussion is motivated by questions raised in the scholarly literature and earlier Online Alpha debates about how to make sense of SPACE 1999 from the viewpoint of critical theory. The book has been developed on an idealistic basis. It is sold at the lowest price the publisher was willing to accept. A free e-book version can be downloaded at www.lulu.com.
