L’éducation thérapeutique est un ensemble de pratiques visant à permettre au patient l’acquisition de compétences, afin de pouvoir prendre en charge de manière active sa maladie, ses soins et sa surveillance, en partenariat avec ses soignants. L’éducation du patient a pour objectif une modification des savoirs et des comportements, une amélioration de la santé, de la qualité de vie du patient. Sur le plan bucco-dentaire, il existe très peu d’études sur ltéducation thérapeutique des patients. C’est pourquoi nous avons décidé de faire une thèse sur ce sujet et d’analyser un programme d’éducation pour la santé dentaire dans le Service d’Odontologie du GHPS de février à juillet 2012. Cette étude, réalisée afin d’évaluer l’impact d’une action d’éducation pour la santé bucco-dentaire de 30 patients adultes consultants, nous a permis d’évaluer l’efficacité dc notre programme d’éducation. Une séance d’éducation thérapeutique a été réalisée ainsi qu’une évaluation six semaines plus tard. L’amélioration de l’indice de plaque a été significative pour plus de la moitié de la population. La démonstration éducative que nous avons choisie a donc été efficace.
