Book Description
This interdisciplinary book explores how the policy goal of gender equality operates in arguably the most masculinist area of politics: peace and security. Gender equality was set on the international peace and security agenda with the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 in 2000 and the inception of the Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) agenda. Celebrated internationally as an outcome of feminist advocacy efforts, the WPS agenda has over time become a site of contestation. Security institutions have questioned the placement of the gender equality objective within the peace and security sector, whereas feminist advocates have expressed their concerns about the capacity of security institutions to support gender equality in meaningful ways. Drawing on insights of nearly seventy UN, government, international and local civil society experts, the book offers a systematic take on key gender equality debates within the WPS agenda in the case studies of UN Security Council, ASEAN and Pacific Islands Forum, and Governments of the Philippines and Australia. By looking back at the dilemmas of gender equality policymaking and their paradoxical effects in conflict and post-conflict situations, the book also looks forward to the third decade of the WPS agenda and the long-term impact of the agenda on the political struggle for gender equality in peace and security.

Book Description
Do you love yourself? You need to employ self-confidence and trust in your ability and self THE MOST because this is what will keep you moving as a woman. Letting doubt into your life would introduce fear also which would do nothing but hold you stand still at a point. A successful woman is not afraid of challenges and doesn't doubt the potentials she carries; therefore don't let doubt find its way into your head because when it does, it will call in fear and fear will lead to failure. Try your best to be confident. Self-control starts by taking responsibility for your emotions, thoughts, and personal achievements in life. You take charge of your emotions by accepting responsibility for your actions, failures, and raising yourself from the ground to the top. You will always be responsible for every action you take in life, and it will also determine where your future lies and who you will become. Confident women not only admit their flaws, but they also applaud them, take it up, and overcome it. Women are known to be problem solvers and multitasking beings; these characteristics of women gives them the edge to overcome their challenges. They know exactly where their strengths lie, what they want, their beauty, and where they can improve their life. Gorgeous women love themselves for the intrinsic features they possess; they care less of what people say about them, their family background, the society, and what the world say about them. The confident mother sets a goal and achieves it; she helps her family attain stability while taking charge of her life. Women who are courageous make the right decision most of the time. The self-assured woman listens to people's opinion while combining it with her opinion. The confident woman is the desire of every man, and she is the hope of humanity in this fast-changing world. I have been to over 48 countries, speaking and listening to women. I have been with mothers, teenage ladies, and underage ladies and I could tell what they are made of.

Book Description
Marjorie Hansen Shaevitz, executive coach, lecturer, and therapist who has won national awards for her work in women's health, has the success some people only dream of: a prosperous professional life; a long, happy marriage; two Stanford-educated children; and a best-selling book, The Superwoman Syndrome, which coined a term for a generation of women. Despite all of her accomplishments, however, she struggled with the issue of confidence. After conducting extensive research, she found that she was far from alone: Many women are in the paradox of enjoying success in their business and personal lives while not having much confidence in themselves. Throughout her professional career, Shaevitz has helped scores of women find the power within themselves to unshackle, rescue, or recover their self- confidence. Using a series of seven steps, complete with techniques and questions, Shaevitz presents an accessible and proven program that helps women regain their confidence. The Confident Woman focuses on the issues that women face in growing up as a girl and living as a woman in this society, offering the reader a more comprehensive approach to "filling the void within herself." The advice and information in this book are not limited to one age or stage of a woman's life: It is written for women of all ages, ending with an epilogue for mothers who want practical tips for raising confident daughters. Written in clear, concise prose and filled with anecdotes and humor, The Confident Woman focuses on what women say they want: practical advice that they can use now.

Book Description
A thoroughly entertaining and darkly humorous roundup of history’s notorious but often forgotten female con artists and their bold, outrageous scams—by the acclaimed author of Lady Killers. From Elizabeth Holmes and Anna Delvey to Frank Abagnale and Charles Ponzi, audacious scams and charismatic scammers continue to intrigue us as a culture. As Tori Telfer reveals in Confident Women, the art of the con has a long and venerable tradition, and its female practitioners are some of the best—or worst. In the 1700s in Paris, Jeanne de Saint-Rémy scammed the royal jewelers out of a necklace made from six hundred and forty-seven diamonds by pretending she was best friends with Queen Marie Antoinette. In the mid-1800s, sisters Kate and Maggie Fox began pretending they could speak to spirits and accidentally started a religious movement that was soon crawling with female con artists. A gal calling herself Loreta Janeta Velasquez claimed to be a soldier and convinced people she worked for the Confederacy—or the Union, depending on who she was talking to. Meanwhile, Cassie Chadwick was forging paperwork and getting banks to loan her upwards of $40,000 by telling people she was Andrew Carnegie’s illegitimate daughter. In the 1900s, a 40something woman named Margaret Lydia Burton embezzled money all over the country and stole upwards of forty prized show dogs, while a few decades later, a teenager named Roxie Ann Rice scammed the entire NFL. And since the death of the Romanovs, women claiming to be Anastasia have been selling their stories to magazines. What about today? Spoiler alert: these “artists” are still conning. Confident Women asks the provocative question: Where does chutzpah intersect with a uniquely female pathology—and how were these notorious women able to so spectacularly dupe and swindle their victims?
