Book Description
If you love to color colonial architecture from the nation's revolutionary city capital in the Williamsburg Virginia Geographic Area and the Historic Restoration district, this book is a definite 'must buy!' If you love to color the holiday decorations, you can't wait to purchase this book! Historically, the colonists did not decorate for the holidays as Americans do today. But, in keeping with the guidelines of the local building codes of the area, residents can decorate for the holidays, but are only allowed to use natural materials that could be found or were present at the time of the early revolutionary era. The amazing wreath designs are stunning in their simplicity and variety of beautiful materials. This coloring book also has a companion resource book available via the author's Etsy store where buyers can view the original full-color photographs to resource the colors and more details to the materials in each wreath (etsy.com/people/DawnDBoyer) The book is filled with 50+ Gray Scaled Photographs of the 2016 Holiday Wreathes and Dcor you will find if you visit the area. This is one of four volumes of Gray Scale photos that concentrate on Holiday Wreathes and Dcor. There are at least two creative ways you can use the illustrations in this book and the other three volumes: As a Coloring Book - pull the pages out, get out your crayons and colored pencils, and 'go to town' in adding your interpretation of what materials the colonists used if they were inclined to decorate their windows and doors during the holiday season. As a Scavenger Game - look through the book and see if you can identify the location of all the illustrations throughout the book. Mark the location page with the longitude and latitude coordinates. Buy more books for your friends and family and see who can identify all the locations of the structures in the book first! Book Description
Artist's Reference Photos: The Restored Colonial Area of the City of Williamsburg, VA If you love the restored colonial district of the City of Williamsburg, Virginia, and if you are an artist looking for strong reference photos, this book is for you! This book over 80 full-color photographs that provide strong visual interpretation of the exterior and interior of the governor's palace for the artists to use fully as a reference for their sketching, illustrations, and painting efforts. This book is made up of photographs taken between 2015 and 2018 by the author / photographer's efforts of documenting architecture in the restored colonial area within the City of Williamsburg, Virginia. During this period, the photos may actually show small differences between the years as the non-profit foundation updated, improved, and added to the beautiful tourist setting. After dozens of trips to the City of Williamsburg, Virginia over decades, and untold numbers of visits to the restored area of the original colonial city, the collection grew to thousands of photos. The difference between these photographs and other photography of the area is these were taken specifically at certain artistic angles and viewpoints that would aesthetically enhance the view of the building or allow the artist to see details of the exteriors or interiors. The photographer's main purpose was to use the photographs as a basis for sketches and drawings for fine art illustrations and pen and ink drawings. Thus the photographs in this book showcase angles and views which the normal tourist or photographer may not have considered. The photographer used a Canon Rebel DSL 35mm camera set on automatic exposure and focus. These photo resources are excellent guides which artists are allowed to use as a basis for their own fine art illustrations of the beautiful restored buildings, streets, and venues. This book is one of a series of artists reference photos by the photographer of the restored colonial area inside the city of Williamsburg, Virginia (check Amazon for other books in this series!). This book and the photographer allows and encourages the fine artist purchasing this book to use any reference photo as a basis upon which to create their own fine art illustrations. Book Description
The book includes six chapters that cover Virginia history from initial settlement through the 20th century plus one that deals with the important role of underwater archaeology. Written by prominent archaeologists with research experience in their respective topic areas, the chapters consider important issues of Virginia history and consider how the discipline of historic archaeology has addressed them and needs to address them . Changes in research strategy over time are discussed , and recommendations are made concerning the need to recognize the diverse and often differing roles and impacts that characterized the different regions of Virginia over the course of its historic past. Significant issues in Virginia history needing greater study are identified.
