Book Description
Hello, I am Yoo Kyung-Mo, a writer living with schizophrenia. I stand before you as an active writer who has already published four books on schizophrenia and one essay. My experiences with Christianity and its boundless love are the reasons why I felt compelled to write this book. Born and raised in a Christian family, I have been immersed in the Christian faith since birth. With both my paternal and maternal families being Christian, I understand the religion better than most. However, the primary motivation behind writing this book is my desire to give hope to those who are suffering from mental illnesses, who are facing even greater hardships than I did. If I were to recover from schizophrenia, I would first and foremost give all the glory to God. In a way, the very act of writing this book is a beacon of hope for those with schizophrenia. I was diagnosed with schizophrenia in 2014. Initially, I lacked awareness of my illness and wandered aimlessly, unaware that I was sick. However, through God's unwavering mercy and love, I am now able to write to you. I invite you to join me on this precious journey, to laugh and cry as you read my words. This book is a testament to my faith, a celebration of God's love and glory, and a chronicle of the miraculous recovery to everyday life that comes to those who believe in His healing power. I want to share this journey of recovery with you fully. December 21, 2022, 5:52 PM With the belief that God's unwavering love will also find you, Sincerely, Writer Yoo Kyung-Mo

Book Description
A New York Times Notable Book A Kirkus Reviews Best Book of 2012 A bold approach to understanding the American evangelical experience from an anthropological and psychological perspective by one of the country's most prominent anthropologists. Through a series of intimate, illuminating interviews with various members of the Vineyard, an evangelical church with hundreds of congregations across the country, Tanya Luhrmann leaps into the heart of evangelical faith. Combined with scientific research that studies the effect that intensely practiced prayer can have on the mind, When God Talks Back examines how normal, sensible people—from college students to accountants to housewives, all functioning perfectly well within our society—can attest to having the signs and wonders of the supernatural become as quotidian and as ordinary as laundry. Astute, sensitive, and extraordinarily measured in its approach to the interface between science and religion, Luhrmann's book is sure to generate as much conversation as it will praise.

Book Description
Schizophrenia is often considered one of the most destructive forms of mental illness. Elahe Hessamfar's personal experience with her daughter's illness has led her to ask some pressing and significant questions about the cause and nature of schizophrenia and the Church's role in its treatment. With a candid and revealing look at the history of mental illness, In the Fellowship of His Suffering describes schizophrenia as a variation of human expression. Hessamfar uses a deeply theological rather than pathological approach to interpret the schizophrenic experience and the effect it has on both the patients and their families. Effectively drawing on the Bible as a source of knowledge for understanding mental illness, she offers a reflective yet innovative view of whether the Church could or should intervene in such encounters and what such an intervention might look like. Hessamfar's comprehensive work will provoke powerful responses from anyone interested in the prominent social issue of mental illness. Her portrayal of the raging debate between treating 'insanity' either pastorally or medically will enthral readers, be they Christians, medical students or those in the field of psychiatry and social sciences.

Book Description
“The landmark book that argued that psychiatry consistently expands its definition of mental illness to impose its authority over moral and cultural conflict.” — New York Times The 50th anniversary edition of the most influential critique of psychiatry every written, with a new preface on the age of Prozac and Ritalin and the rise of designer drugs, plus two bonus essays. Thomas Szasz's classic book revolutionized thinking about the nature of the psychiatric profession and the moral implications of its practices. By diagnosing unwanted behavior as mental illness, psychiatrists, Szasz argues, absolve individuals of responsibility for their actions and instead blame their alleged illness. He also critiques Freudian psychology as a pseudoscience and warns against the dangerous overreach of psychiatry into all aspects of modern life.

Book Description
What just happened to me-and why? Are you of the opinion that everything that happens to you in life, even the evil, somehow comes from God? Are you ready to examine this in the light of Jesus' practices and teachings? Schizophrenic God? uncovers the myth of extreme sovereignty and invites you into a deeper biblical understanding of God's nature and His sovereign will. Have you ever wondered: * Why does a good and loving God allow evil? * Is God really sovereign if He doesn't control all events? * Does God's will for your life automatically come to pass? * How does God's sovereignty and human responsibility come together? * Are there variables that can hinder God's will for your life? The answers to these questions and many others are revealed in this book, which compares false traditional beliefs with Jesus' worldview--removing confusion that blocks God's will for your life. Schizophrenic God? is a close look at fate and free will. Has God predetermined everything that happens in your life, or do your own free-will decisions help determine your destiny? You will be challenged to rethink the assumptions you have made about God, which brings comfort and empowerment in the truths of a good God, human choice, and the prayer of faith that changes things. Rest assured--you do not serve a schizophrenic Father.
