ISBN: 3030487563
Category : Science

Pages : 210
Book Description
This book discusses potential mineral belts in various geotectonic regions around the globe, with a particular focus on concealed deposits, in order to highlight new areas for geochemical exploration and modelling. In recent years, the application of statistical methods using qualitative and, wherever possible, quantitative earth science data has become increasingly common for the evaluation of both offshore and terrestrial mineral resources. The book examines these approaches and provides examples from India, which are also applicable to deposits around the world, particularly those in South and South East Asia. The main objective of geochemical exploration and modelling is to present the geometry of the deposit in three dimensions. As such, the book describes the various conventional and non-conventional techniques of exploration geochemistry, especially in the context of concealed terrestrial and offshore mineral deposits. It serves as a guide for field geologists, geochemists, students, research scholars and scientists interested in earth science for the exploration of concealed mineral deposits and evaluation of their resources.

Statistical Evaluations in Exploration for Mineral Deposits
Author: Friedrich-Wilhelm Wellmer
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 3642602622
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 388
Book Description
Statistical evaluations of exploration data are the basis for decisions to be made at various stages of an exploration project. In contrast to other geostatistical books, Statistical Evaluations in Exploration for Mineral Deposits focuses not only on theory, but examples are also given, frequently originating from experience in mineral exploration by the author who worked worldwide for a mining company. Together with its companion volume, Economic Evaluations in Exploration, the book illustrates methods used in exploration campaigns and mining activities. It is intended as a vademecum for geologists who are forced to make quick decisions regarding an exploration project. It also addresses scientists and students involved in teaching or in mineral economic evaluations, recommendations or decisions.

Regolith Geochemistry and Hidden Deposits
Author: Emmanuel Arhin
Publisher: LAP Lambert Academic Publishing
ISBN: 9783659591839
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 268
Book Description
The Birimian rocks of southern Ghana host world-class gold deposits yet no equivalent-sized deposit has been found in the Birimian rocks in the savannah regions of northwest Ghana. This is because of the regolith complexities. Hidden gold in this area can be detected if the regolith and landscape evolution can be unraveled. Unraveling the hidden deposits require the understanding of regolith and the associated geochemistry. This book highlights the use of a geochemical exploration model based on evolution of regolith-landform and helps guide the choice of exploration methodology appropriate for complex regolith environments. Developing regolith maps that classifies the landscape into ferruginous (F), relict (R), erosional (E) and depositional (D) domains can aid in defining the concealed mineral deposits. The fraction of the geochemistry expressed in the regolith profile from the underlying rocks and mineralization can be obtained from the geochemical data obtained from the regolith profile samples. This will assist to distinguish residual regolith from transported types as well as the compositional variability of the different regolith types and hence the hidden mineralization
