Book Description
Excerpt from Farm Financial Record Studies, 1943 We have had years of low volume of sales, as 1937, when prices were high but there was little to sell, and we have had years like 1939 when a large volume of products was sold at relatively low prices. The effect of both of these combinations was a fairly low level of farm incomes. In 1936, a fair volume of products was marketed at good prices, but 1943 was a year when a large volume of products was sold for high prices. Book Description
Excerpt from Farm Financial Record Studies: 1928 On account of the difficulty in getting records of produce used by the farm family, these items are not included in the income figures as stated in this report. The farm products used at home have been found to range in value from $425 to $450 a year as an average for a large number of farms where they have been recorded. This item of produce may be considered as labor income for the farm operator in addition to the labor wage deducted in the accounts. Book Description
Excerpt from Farm Financial Record Studies Getting low costs for labor, for power and for equipment can best be brought into one plan. Such a plan involves the selec tion of a well balanced cropping system which uses available labor, power, and equipment through as many months as possible avoiding extremely heavy periods of demand. These heavy demand periods make necessary the hiring of extra labor at the highest priced seasons, such as harvest time; the use of inexperienced labor and the carrying of excessive amounts of work stock or equipment for use during short seasons. Book Description
Excerpt from Farm Financial Record Studies: 1931 In comparing the earnings of farms with the earnings of corporations, two differences must.be kept in mind: (1) corporations pay for management through their salaries to officers and executives while in the farm accounts no deduction has been made for the value of management, and (2) the farmer and his fanuly receive foods, fuel, and shelter from the farms for which no credit is given in the calculation of rate earned on investment. Although no record was kept of the value of food and fuel used by the farm families on the farms included-ih this report, such data are col lected annually for a group of central Illinois farms. An analysis of these records indicates that the average farm furnishes the farm family with $400 to $500 worth of food and fuel a year valued at farm prices. In addition, the cost for a house of equal value is less on the farm than in the city. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
