Investigation of Heat and Mass Transfer in the Evaporation of Liquid in a Forced Gas Stream
Author: G. T. Sergeev
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 15
Book Description
This report presents results of an experimental study of the mechanism of heat and mass transfer in the interaction of fluid and moist bodies with a gas stream. In the first series of experiments, evaporation of water, acetone, benzene, and butanol from an exposed surface was investigated. In the second series of experiments, heat and mass exchange were investigated under the same external conditions in the evaporation of water from a capillary-porous body, and heat exchange was investigated in a capillary-porous dry body. Some of the results of the completed experimental study are the following: (1) The heat exchange coefficients in evaporation are numerically higher than the heat exchange coefficients of the dry body under other-wise equal conditions; and (2) the processes of heat and mass exchange in evaporation from the surface of a capillaryporous body and from an exposed liquid surface are not analogous.

Heat and Mass Transfer in Capillary-Porous Bodies
Author: A. V. Luikov
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 1483225682
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 541
Book Description
Heat and Mass Transfer in Capillary-Porous Bodies describes the modern theory of heat and mass transfer on the basis of the thermodynamics of irreversible processes. This book provides a systematic account of the phenomena of heat and mass transfer in capillary-porous bodies. Organized into 10 chapters, this book begins with an overview of the processes of the transfer of heat and mass of a substance. This text then examines the application of the theory to the investigation of heat and mass exchange in walls and in technological processes for the manufacture of building materials. Other chapters consider the thermal properties of building materials by using the methods of the thermodynamics of mass transfer. The final chapter deals with the method of finite differences, which is applicable to the solution of problems of non-steady heat conduction. This book is a valuable resource for scientists, post-graduate students, engineers, and students in higher educational establishments for architectural engineering.

Liquid and Vapour Flows in Porous Bodies
Author: N.V. Churaev
Publisher: Routledge
ISBN: 1351434985
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 344
Book Description
Adopts a completely original approach to the study of processes of mass transfer. In contrast to the usual approach, based on the concept of continuum media and the theory of heat and mass transfer, the topic is considered from a new viewpoint, taking into account the heterogeneous dispersal state of porous bodies. The author bases his discussion on the theory of surface forces and microhydrodynamic analysis of the processes of mass transport of gases, liquids and vapors, providing the reader with a systematic account of liquid/solid and gas/solid interfaces. Topics treated in this book include structural peculiarities, equilibrium and properties of liquids in porous bodies. Various mechanisms of mass transfer are considered, including liquid flow in pores and films, gas diffusion, combined transfer of liquid and vapor, convective diffusion in solutions, structure formation, capillary phenomena, and wetting. This unique book provides a wealth of information from the former Soviet Union, which will be of great interest to chemists, physicists and materials scientists, as well as industrialists working with a variety of different products in which disperse systems and porous bodies are important.
