Book Description
The results of job analyses for the position of entry-level, radio car patrol officer at over 200 California law enforcement agencies are presented. The analyses were performed between October 1977 and March 1978 to develop a job analytic data base for establishing the job-relatedness of employee selection procedures and practices. Most of the information was gathered through a job analysis survey instrument filled out by patrol officers and supervisors. Each agency was asked to choose at least 10 percent of its patrol car officers so that equal numbers had less than 3 and over 3 years of job experience, that equal numbers came from each shift, that different types of beats were represented, and that a substantial number of minorities and females were included. In addition, a supervisor with at least 1 year's experience from each of the three shifts was selected. The analysis types of incidents which required patrol officer response. The frequency of performance and importance of homogeneous groups of these tasks and incidents for each agency were calculated. In addition, the relative importance of 39 categories of work behavior for each agency was determined. The resulting report was individualized for participating agencies and included comparison figures for a group of similar agencies (in terms of size and type of agency) and for the entire statewide sample. This sample copy presents the results for an unnamed participating agency. Recommendations for the use of the data, lists of comparison groups, footnotes, five references, and data tables are included.

Book Description
Throughout this book, author Thomas Ampeliotis provides insight written in the first person. Ampeliotis talks primarily from his experience through eleven years of Law Enforcement/Security experience, Security Management for an International Company, Human Resources, and through his educational background that includes two master's degrees and work towards an Ed D in Organizational Leadership. A good security professional is always thinking of what could happen and how to stop it from happening. That is one reason I wrote this book. I wanted to help security/human resource personnel by giving them tools and forethought to prepare against the unexpected. If there is not a designated security professional in an organization, the task of security is always given to the human resource or safety department. So it only makes sense that human resources should prepare against security issues and have necessary tools.
