Despite the research that supports interprofessional education as a component to delivering optimal medical care, many education programs still provide minimal exposure and interaction during student training. This study used a pre/post-test design using a validated questionnaire and post-simulation student reflections to describe the effect of an interprofessional simulation experience on dietetic student perceptions of teamwork and decision-making, understanding roles of healthcare professionals, and self- efficacy for providing patient care. Two-tailed paired-sample t-tests assessed questionnaire items and demonstrated that students felt that learning with other students will increase effectiveness of the health care team (p=0.032); that shared learning with other health professions will increase their ability to problem-solve (p=0.017); and that shared learning will help them become better clinicians (p=0.018). There was a significant increase in support of small group projects (p=0.027) and generic lectures, tutorials, or workshops (p=0.006) shared with other health sciences students.
