Climate change is, certainly, a major global challenge; but responses to this challenge have entailed the commoditisation of part of the commons, such as forests, and the transfer of the costs to the South, with little attention paid to the issues of sustainability and the involvement of local communities in the programmes that are supposed to mitigate the adverse effects of climate change. [...] Moreover, the calculation of the costs and funding requirements of the partners in the collaboration, and therefore the sharing of the funds, are often done in ways that favor the northern partners: the cost of the salaries and research time of the researchers is unequal, and the universities and research centres of the North have much higher adminis- trativecosts (sometimes up to 40% of the budge. [...] Following the entry into force of the Charter in 1986, the establishment of the African Commission in 1987, and the collapse of the Berlin Wall in 1989, the OAU in 1990 adopted the Cairo Declaration on the Political and Socio- Economic Situation in Africa and the Fundamental Changes Taking Place in the World in which member States, among other things, committed themselves respectively, as a politi. [...] Under the Code of Conduct instituted by the ECOWAS Heads, "where a member or members of the Council are adjudged to be in breach of the provisions of the code of Conduct for members of the Liberian National Transitional Government (LNTG), and in particular, any act which impedes the implementation of the Abuja Agreement, appropriate steps shall be taken by the Chairman of ECOWAS", including the "e. This book examines the implications of Brexit for Africa-UK relations amid a ‘new scramble’ for the continent. Mission is contrived from and performed over lived contexts, but the visions that guide and drive mission are oftentimes blinded by power, position, protection, and plenitude. This collection visits those matters with queering attention to the shadows that empires cast over the contexts of mission, and to the collusion and complicity of Christians and churches with empires past (as in the case of Rome) and present (as in the case of the United States of America). In the interests of those in mission fields who survived, but continue to agonize under the burdens of empires, the contributors to this work dare to re-vision the course and cause of mission. Writing from minoritized settings in Africa, Asia, the Americas, and Oceania, the authors interweave the principles and practices of mission with the opportunities in decolonial theology and hermeneutics, minoritized and migrant Christologies, repatriation and the courage to get up and get out, indigenous insights and wisdom, mission archives, stories of resistance and endurance in zones of contact and violence, restless souls and returning spirits, and life-centered spiritual (en)countering.
