Book Description
The Day of Atonement was a day of rest, penitence, and purification for Israelites of loyal character. On this day, sins and impurities that had accumulated throughout the year were removed from the tabernacle by the application of sacrificial blood to its altars and compartments and transferred by the high priest's confession onto the goat for Azazel, which carried them to the desert. Israel was thus rendered "clean" before the Lord, ensuring that he would continue to dwell in their midst. As it became ingrained in the veil of Jewish consciousness, the Day of Atonement underwent a process of reflection and reimagination as shown in Second Temple literature, where Azazel plays a significant eschatological role. Arriving in New Testament times, the day's imagery and typology presented irresistible motifs which its authors used to proclaim Jesus Christ's atoning death and heavenly intercession on behalf of believers. By utilizing a coherent intertextual approach, this book explores how John wove the Day of Atonement into the colorful literary tapestry of Revelation.

Book Description
The Levitical Day of Atonement was a day of penitence, confession, and judgment for Israelites of loyal character and a day of covenant renewal for the nation of Israel. On this day, sin was removed from the tabernacle through the application of sacrificial blood to its altars and compartments, as well as by the dismissal of the goat for Azazel, which carried all the community’s sin to a “barren land.” As it became ingrained in the veil of Jewish consciousness, the Day of Atonement underwent a “process of abstraction” over many centuries leading up to Second Temple times, when the Most Holy Place lay devoid of the ark of the covenant and its mercy seat. Continuing to reverberate in the Jewish imaginaire, the Day of Atonement was received by the authors of the New Testament, including John of Patmos, to whom its sacrificial typology provided irresistible motifs which they used to proclaim “the Christ event.” By utilizing a coherent intertextual approach, this book explores how John wove the Day of Atonement into the colorful literary tapestry of Revelation.

Book Description
Holy Echoes by Peggy Priest is a must read for anyone who is asking, "Is God speaking today?" You will be encouraged, enlightened, and challenged as you read through these "God stories," and in the process you will meet the God of Jeremiah 31:3 (NLT), who says, "I have loved you... with an everlasting love. With unfailing love I have drawn you to myself." - Rev. Kendall and Cathy Thomas Clergy Executive Couple United Marriage Encounter Have you ever asked for God to speak to you directly? I know I have. "Send me a fax, Lord!" I used to shout out. I know, that dates me, but you understand the concept. What I have found out over the years is that He does speak to each of us through the still, small voice in our heart, and what someone once described as "Holy Echoes." This book is for everyone out there who is looking for confirmation that God is speaking to you. Sometimes He does speak to us directly, but often it is through the still, small voice during our everyday activities. A clever person once told me that if you hear the same thing over and over through different venues, you are hearing "Holy Echoes" from God, trying to share something important. I believe that "God stories" are when He speaks to you through everyday events and obligations. Come discover, through our journey together here, how He speaks to you today!

Book Description
What is the overall story of the Bible? How do its various parts fit together? How can Jesus claim to be the fulfillment of the promises of God? Christians believe that the sovereign, all-powerful, infinite, Triune God of the universe has chosen to speak to people through the Bible. But sometimes this Bible can be daunting in its size and scope, and many people who read the Bible struggle with understanding how it all fits together. His Unified Word presents an eight-week Bible study that traces the storyline of the Bible from beginning to end and explores how every theme is ultimately fulfilled in Jesus. Twenty Old Testament and twenty New Testament passages reveal the big picture of creation, rebellion, redemption, and restoration. Each one of the forty days in the study guides readers through a Bible passage, an explanatory commentary, and thoughtful interaction with the text. Teaching sections at the end of each week also explain how all of the passages fit together through covenants, types, and promises. Ideal for both individuals and groups, this uplifting study will enrich knowledge of God and love for his unified Word.
