Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2016 im Fachbereich Politik - Grundlagen und Allgemeines, Note: 1,7, Fachhochschule Südwestfalen; Abteilung Meschede, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, ausgehend von einigen Gründungsmotiven das Wachstum der Europäischen Union (EU) anhand der Erweiterungsrunden darzustellen und diese Entwicklung mit wirtschaftlichen Kennzahlen zu belegen sowie die Zukunft Europas zu betrachten. Zunächst werden notwendige Voraussetzungen für einen Beitritt beschrieben, gefolgt vom Ablauf des Beitrittsverfahrens. Im Anschluss werden die einzelnen Erweiterungsrunden und die damit in Verbindung stehenden Auswirkungen für die EU dargestellt. Ebenso werden mögliche Erweiterungsrunden in der Zukunft betrachtet. Insbesondere wird auf die Entwicklung des geographischen Ausmaßes, der Bevölkerungszahlen und des BIP pro Kopf in KKS eingegangen. Die Seminararbeit schließt mit einem Fazit ab, in dem vor allem die Grundsatzdebatte zwischen Erweiterung und Vertiefung erläutert wird. „Europa ist ein Prozess, eine Aktion, eine Unternehmung, etwas, das in Bewegung ist.“ Dieses Zitat von György Konrad, einem ungarischen Autor, beschreibt sehr gut, dass sich die EU in den vergangenen Jahrzehnten enorm entwickelt hat und sich dieser Prozess weiterhin fortführen wird. Gegründet wurde die heutige EU von sechs Staaten. Aktuell gehören ihr 28 Mitgliedstaaten an. Innerhalb von mehr als 60 Jahren hat sich die Mitgliedzahl der EU fast verfünffacht. Solch ein Erweiterungsprozess vollzieht sich in der Regel nicht ohne Probleme und Herausforderungen sowie Anpassungen der vorhandenen Strukturen. Europa war und ist ständig in Bewegung. Schon bald könnten weitere Staaten der EU beitreten.

HauptbeschreibungThe current relationship between the Nordic countries and the European Union appears complex and confusing. Although Denmark, in 1973, and Sweden and Finland, in 1995, joined the European Union, the entry of Norway into the Union was rejected in the plebiscites of 1972 and 1994. Furthermore, Nordic EU members enjoy permanent exceptions to their integration into the EU: Denmark and Sweden, like the U.K., have declined to become part of the monetary union. Finland is essentially the only Nordic country that entered the EU without substantial exceptions. A membership bid from Iceland was unthinkable; after the fi nancial crisis - which is not the topic of this book - Iceland applied for membership in 2010 and has been in discussions with the European Commission ever since. In other words: the European Union divides Nordic societies, which has resulted in a series of national exceptions to the integration process. Taken together, these exceptions have created an integration process whose overall geometry is contradictory and paradoxical. Considering this melange, this book will discuss the actual state of Nordic integration into the EU from many different perspectives and illuminate future developments in the fi eld of integration.
