Book Description
Orwell Hughes - 20 years old, active in sports, arts and church - enjoys life as a young man coming of age in 1974’s Lusaka, where his father (James “Bwana” Hughes) is a Canadian diplomat and Orwell attends the University of Zambia. Orwell endears himself to African peers Benjamin Mudenda, Winter Banda, and Cepheus Belo, through interests in African languages, history, justice, and aspirations. Yet, he suffers racism and awkward social relationships with young women that his father and older brother Richard can’t help him solve. Orwell invites Tracy MacDonachie, his former Sunday school teacher and youth leader - who encouraged him as an impressionable lad back home in Canada - to visit him in Zambia, hoping that this older, successful and wiser man can continue to mentor him. Orwell’s sisters Suzanne and Janice Joanne invite Tracy’s sisters Kathleen and Alicia, to visit. The MacDonachies arrive for Easter but stay longer than planned, and are not as remembered; Tracy woos Orwell’s girlfriend Georgina. Several other Canadians join Bwana Hughes’s team, including Karla Bryant, whom Orwell agrees to tutor in English while the university has been closed by a workers’ strike. His hopes revive when he joins Tracy’s boxing clinic.

Book Description
Valuable not only for their sublime musical expression, the African American spirituals provide profound insights into the human condition and Christian life. Many spirituals focus on the climax of the Christian drama, the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and the ways in which those events bring about the liberation of Gods people. In these devotions for the season of Lent, Luke A. Powery leads the reader through the spirituals as they confront the mystery of Christs atoning death and victory over the grave. Each selection includes the lyrics of the spiritual, a reflection by the author on the spirituals meaning, a Scripture verse related to that meaning, and a brief prayer.

Book Description
The first comprehensive resource for teaching spiritual leadership development in the twenty-first century—for all faith traditions. America is changing. Technology, social networking, global economics, immigration, migration and multiculturalism urge communities of faith to expand their vision of spiritual leadership and reflect on how leaders can better serve congregations and communities in the twenty-first century. In this multifaith, cross-cultural and comprehensive resource for both clergy and lay persons, contributors who are experts in the field explore how to engage spiritual leaders and teach them how to bring healing, faith, justice and support to communities and congregations. They offer tools, advice, practical methodologies and case studies on how stakeholders—congregational leaders, ordained religious leaders, educators, students and community leaders—learn how to do theology in context and grow into faith leadership roles.

Book Description
Registered for Life with Jesus Christ is a powerful true memoir of a mother's tragedy, police civil rights misconduct cover up, and a guide to serving time God's way. Undoubtedly, prison was the most intense period of spiritual warfare that Lori Franklin ever encountered. During her fourteen and half years at the Kentucky Correctional Institution for Women in Pewee Valley, Kentucky, formerly nicknamed the Valley of the Dolls but prophetically it was more of the Valley of the Dry Bones as described in Ezekiel 37, full of spiritually dead women in need of leadership. During Lori's stay, she rose to her call of spiritual warfare leader and jailhouse lawyer to defend the constitutional civil rights of other inmates as the prison's grievance clerk and an active member of Women in Mission Bible study group. Lori allowed God to use her within the prison walls as a missionary, all while battling her post-traumatic stress disorder from the tragic death of her child and by being left to suffer in solitary confinement in a cold windowless jail cell for over three hundred days straight without exercise, awaiting her trial at the Jefferson County Jail in Louisville, Kentucky in violation of her eighth amendment constitutional rights. Lori put together the ordeals that God lead her through to guide inmates that are currently incarcerated and families that are left behind, while under a shelter-in-place order due to the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic. While writing her last chapter, she could hear the Black lives Matter protesters march down her street, shouting "No justice, no peace," bringing attention to the police misconduct in Louisville, Kentucky, all the while crying that the statute of limitation is up in her case, and she will be registered for Life.
