Book Description
This two volume textbook is a practical guide to echocardiography for trainees. Divided into seven sections, the book begins with an introduction to the history and basics of echocardiography. The second section explains how to perform different types of echocardiograph. Each of the following sections examines echocardiography and its interpretation for various groups of heart diseases, whilst the final section describes the use of the technique for more general non-invasive procedures, including in systemic diseases, in life threatening conditions and for geriatric patients. Edited by internationally-recognised Dr Navin Nanda from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, US, this comprehensive manual includes more than 1150 echocardiographic images and illustrations. Key points Comprehensive guide to echocardiography Covers basic technique and use for diagnosis of numerous heart diseases Edited by University of Alabama at Birmingham Prof Navin Nanda Includes more than 1150 images and illustrations, and 6 DVD-ROMs with over 1700 video clips

Book Description
The introduction of quantitative Doppler echocardiography gave rise to explo sive interest in the application of this method in clinical cardiology. However, before cardiologists could fully validate its clinical utility, they were confronted with a further development, namely color-coded Doppler flow imaging. This new technique allows a comprehensive study of the direction, velocity, uniformity and timing of intracardiac blood flow, while simultaneously revealing cardiac struc tures and their movement. 'Color Doppler' facilitates the diagnosis of a variety of cardiac conditions, and an overwhelming amount of information is available at any instant. Interpretation of these fascinating images requires a substantial experience and theoretical background. This monograph updates the application of color Doppler to both congenital and acquired heart disease. The work comprises 15 chapters written by authorities in the field, each of whom presents his most recent experience in the field. In addition, further advantages in the clinical use of pulsed and continuous wave Doppler in pediatric and adult cardiol ogy are presented. This book contains, of course, many color plates. 1. Book Description
The thoroughly revised Seventh Edition of Feigenbaum's Echocardiography reflects recent changes in the technology and clinical use of echocardiography. Highlights include over 1,600 illustrations, 600 in full color; detailed discussions on the use of three-dimensional echocardiography and perfusion imaging; and new information on the mechanics and utility of Strain and Strain rate imaging. Many new images complement the state-of-the-art information on technological advances. Current AHA/ACC guidelines are included for each chapter. An accompanying DVD contains tutorials on echo interpretation with voiceover and animations.

Book Description
This monograph represents an attempt to collect the methods developed within the past decade in which echocardiography was being used to guide or to assess the results of some cardiovascular interventions or to overcome the imaging limitations of transthoracic approaches. I have entitled this book Echocardio graphy in Cardiac Interventions, although I am aware that this title is not entirely applicable to all the included methods. In these interventive procedures echocar diography preserves its noninvasive nature, and by combining it with invasive procedures, they become more accurate, safer and less invasive. The book is divided into 8 sections and 42 chapters written by many authorities in the field. When such comprehensive contributions from many authors are used, some overlapping cannot be avoided. I would like to express my appreciation to the individual contributors for their A. 1. Tajik dedication and cooperation in preparing this book. I am indebted to Dr. from the Mayo Clinic, who created a pleasant milieu for preparing the book during my sabbatical year at the Mayo Clinic. It is hoped that the reader will derive from this book a sense of where and how the ultrasound can be used in cardiovascular interventions today and what new approaches might be forthcoming.
