Book Description
The primary purpose of this book is to inspire Christian clergymen, leaders, and educators as well as parents and students to embrace, promote, and support the God-ordained vision and mission of private Christian day schools. Also, this book profoundly expounds on how and why Christian day schools are very much relevant or needed in todays troublesome world. This book is divided into four parts, which expounds on foundational principles of a Christian day school, God-ordained assignments in the organizational structure of a Christian day school, practical components of a quality Christian day school, and posterity of Christian day schools. The importance of being called, equipped, and anointed by God to serve within any capacity of a Christian day school is highlighted in this book as well. Most importantly, Christian day schools are established to meet the needs of the whole child: spirit, soul, and body.

Cross-cultural in its approach and the result of decades of research, this work represents by far the most comprehensive account of the history of foundations that has hitherto been published.

Light Against Darkness
Author: Armin Lange
Publisher: Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht
ISBN: 3647550167
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 369
Book Description
Light Against Darkness is comprised of articles that put on display the power and pervasiveness of dualistic thought. Dualism has proved a potent cultural tool for clarifying and ordering reality. Particularly in times of social stress and psychological insecurity, it can offer a valuable conceptual grid that provides orientation to the world and a clear sense of identity. At the same time, though, there are important questions to be asked about the social effects of binary thinking. As history amply illustrates, dualistic notions can readily be deployed to legitimate cultural demonization and to rationalize violence. At a deeper level, a dualist worldview can also obscure the possibilities to be found in multiplicity. The articles in this volume treat Dualism across a wide historical spectrum and from multiple methodological perspectives. The studies are organized around the religious and cultural contexts of Ancient Judaism and they include contributions from leading voices on ancient Persia, Israel, Greece, and Egypt.Experts on modern religious and philosophical thought not only lend context to concepts applied to the ancient world, but engage recent European and American experiments in binary thought. All of the studies contribute to a richer and more complete portrait of dualism in ancient Judaism.

The Transjordanian Palimpsest
Author: Jeremy Michael Hutton
Publisher: Walter de Gruyter
ISBN: 311020410X
Category : History
Languages : en
Pages : 468
Book Description
This study analyzes several passages in the Former Prophets (2 Sam 19:12-44; 2 Kgs 2:1-18; Judg 8:4-28) from a literary perspective, and argues that the text presents Transjordan as liminal in Israel's history, a place from which Israel's leaders return with inaugurated or renewed authority. It then traces the redactional development of Samuel-Kings that led to this literary symbolism, and proposes a hypothesis of continual updating and combination of texts, beginning early in Israel's monarchy and continuing until the final formation of the Deuteronomistic History. Several source documents may be isolated, including three narratives of Saul's rise, two distinct histories of David's rise, and a court history that was subsequently revised with pro-Solomonic additions. These texts had been combined already in a Prophetic Record during the 9th c. B.C.E. (with A. F. Campbell), which was received as an integrated unit by the Deuteronomistic Historian. The symbolic geography of the Jordan River and Transjordan, which even extends into the New Testament, was therefore not the product of a deliberate theological formulation, but rather the accidental by-product of the contingency of textual redaction that had as its main goal the historical presentation of Israel's life in the land.

Creators of Mathematical and Computational Sciences
Author: Ravi P Agarwal
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3319108700
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 514
Book Description
The book records the essential discoveries of mathematical and computational scientists in chronological order, following the birth of ideas on the basis of prior ideas ad infinitum. The authors document the winding path of mathematical scholarship throughout history, and most importantly, the thought process of each individual that resulted in the mastery of their subject. The book implicitly addresses the nature and character of every scientist as one tries to understand their visible actions in both adverse and congenial environments. The authors hope that this will enable the reader to understand their mode of thinking, and perhaps even to emulate their virtues in life.
