Book Description
James Corcoran tells the story of Gordon Kahl and the Posse Comitatus, using captivating narrative with vivid imagery. Sunday, February 13, 1983, was a sunny day in Medina, North Dakota--a seemingly peaceful church-going winter day. But hate politics was broiling in secret locations and the Heartland provided cover for those who wanted to take the law into their own hands. "Something terrible, and terribly important, was taking place," writes Corcoran. Ever a page-turner, reflect again on this story of violence and how a group of people can construct an alternative version of the law and the truth. New foreword by Mike Jacobs.

Book Description
The history of food is not as straightforward as it may seem. Food isn't just food. It is ritual, tradition and memory. So begins Ann Cooper's groundbreaking new book on the history of sustenance. Cooper, a renowned chef and graduate of New York's famed Culinary Institute of America, expertly guides us from the roots of agriculture in North America through the profound changes initiated by the Industrial Revolution, all the way up to the present day, offering analyses of recent controversies such as Europe's campaign against Frankenstein food and the genetic engineering of plants and animals in the United States. Throughout, Cooper takes both a macro and micro approach, examining the effect politics, technology, war, international trade and agribusiness have had on the world's food supply, as well as the changing social patterns which have made a family meal at the table almost a relic of the past. Did you know? · 80% of chicken has salmonella. · By the year 2010, 95 percent of items bought at the grocery store may be consumed within 20 minutes of getting them home. · Cancer researchers believe that over one third of all future cancers will be diet-related -- roughly the same proportion now attributable to smoking. Passionate, political, informed and engaging, Bitter Harvest is filled with fascinating facts and anecdotes. Cooper offers a comprehensive analysis of the issue of sustainability, arguing persuasively why we must begin to change everything from the way food is shipped to the basic components of our diets. Touching on virtually every aspect of the food culture, Bitter Harvest is a vibrant example of the emergence of the chef as a political voice to be reckoned with. A food manifesto for the new millennium, it is a must-read for anyone concerned with health, nutrition and the future of our planet. You will never look at your dinner plate in quite the same way again.

Book Description
1200 pages of spellbinding dystopian urban fantasy. In a world with few choices, evil runs rampant and none of the old rules apply. What began as an exploratory mission to see if anything is left on Earth turns sour fast. A Vampire attack, a possessed priest, and a gateway to Hell mean fallout from the spell gone bad that pinned everyone in South America is far from finished. Retreat is tempting, but nowhere is safe. Evil is leaching in from somewhere. If they can’t find the breach, they’re finished. Deceived Vampires aren’t supposed to feel anything beyond hunger and bloodlust, but Viktor still feels a whole lot. He hates what he’s become, but there’s no escape. Not from the dying city smothering him, or from his maker, an arrogant tyrant who demands absolute loyalty. Twisted The sea is the only life Juan’s ever known—not counting the decade he spent as a Vampire. Those years gave him a healthy aversion for anything supernatural, but he’s a shifter now. It’s way better than being one of the undead, but he still doesn’t trust magic. Paired up with Aura to teach him, he falls and falls hard, but she spurns his advances. Abandoned Recco misses his cozy lab and well-organized veterinary clinic, but ten years as a Vampire stripped him of any illusions. Life is done handing him everything he wants. He could rail against fate—which never bought him much—or suck it up and keep going. Defeating the Cataclysm broke Vampirism’s hold on him, though. Even better, it threw Zoe square in his path and kicked open the door for him to bond with a wolf. PRAISE FOR THE BITTER HARVEST SERIES: “I am a huge fan of this author's work having read quite a few of her different series of books and I was so surprised by how different this book is from her other series, surprised and blown away by how amazing it was and how much I adored this book!!!!” Goodreads Review “What a cool new world and an awesome story. A spell gone wrong and a cataclysm has hit, trapping the people, shifters, and vampires in Ushuaia. The vampires are at the top of the food chain and everything is dying.” Goodreads Review “Just my kind of story. The sea, a ship, someone named Viktor to make the story fantastic. He just wants to get back to a life on the sea even though it’s tough. Obviously, it’s not going to be easy. Not to be missed. The audio book has a narrator that has you listening until the end.” Goodreads Review “Entertaining and I loved the premise! It's been awhile since I've read a vampire book, and I really enjoyed Ann Gimpel's storytelling.” Goodreads Review Fans of the following books and series are known to enjoy this post-apocalyptic, urban fantasy series: a kingdom of exiles a shade of vampire academy of magic dragon's gift accidentally in love attack by magic dragon's gift awakening dragon born in fire burning tower call of the dragon choose love covert fae crime of magic dragon's gift crimes against magic dark stranger the dream darkness bound dragons of the darkblood secret society druid enforcer ghostwater goddesss choice golden age greyriver shifters hotbloods hour of darkness house of darken iron and magic jinn's dominion junkyard druid Kate Daniels’ Magic Series master of magic dragon's gift natural mage natural witch obsidian son raised in fire rogues of magic shadow keeper shadow kissed space knight 4 twisted fate unchained undercover magic dragon's gift war god's mantle wheel of time wild hunger Keywords related to this post-apocalyptic, epic fantasy series: Shifter romance, Dystopian, Post-Apocalyptic Fantasy Books, Epic Urban Fantasy series, Werewolves and Shifters, Vampires, Animals & Nature, Popular Series, Paranormal Fantasy Books, Top Rated Books, Tricks, Fantasy Omnibus, Spells & Charms, Romance Books, Backcountry, Fantasy Romance Books, Essential Reads, Epic Fantasy, Omnibus Bundle, Paranormal Romance Series, Adventure Books, Mythology and Folklore, Top Rated Fantasy Collection With Shapeshifters, Fantasy Bundle, Heroine, Supernatural and Occult, Sword And Sorcery, Shifter Romance, Fantasy Stories, Shifter Series, Fantasy, Shifter Omnibus, Best Rated Omnibus, Omnibus Collection, Paranormal Romance Books, Magical Adventures.

Book Description
Between 1910 and 1919, Morelos, Mexico, was home to a bloody agrarian revolution that saw government troops burn villages, cities stand abandoned, and two of every five people either flee the fighting or die in it. The conflict came in response to an intense economic transformation that changed the region's peasant economy into the hub of the Mexican sugar industry during the nineteenth century. By focusing on the creation of the rural working class in Morelos, 'Bitter Harvest' argues that developments there reflected a broader pattern shared with other parts of Mexico that erupted in revolution. The volatile nature of the sugar industry in Morelos, and the silver and cattle industries of the North, exacerbated the social problems created by an exclusionary political regime. Soon, displaced peasants, small farmers, disgruntled ranch hands, and unemployed miners joined Francisco Villa in northern Mexico, while peasants, farmers, and sugar workers rallied around the leadership of Emiliano Zapata in Morelos. When President Porfirio Díaz and the revolutionary leaders that came after him resisted the call for deep social change, turmoil engulfed much of the nation for the next decade. In the end, the Zapatistas were defeated militarily, yet they still forced major concessions out of the national government, which helped shape Mexican society for the rest of the twentieth century.

Book Description
Dark Emu puts forward an argument for a reconsideration of the hunter-gatherer tag for pre-colonial Aboriginal Australians. The evidence insists that Aboriginal people right across the continent were using domesticated plants, sowing, harvesting, irrigating and storing - behaviors inconsistent with the hunter-gatherer tag. Gerritsen and Gammage in their latest books support this premise but Pascoe takes this further and challenges the hunter-gatherer tag as a convenient lie. Almost all the evidence comes from the records and diaries of the Australian explorers, impeccable sources.
