Book Description
Many Christians continue to be skeptical about Charles Darwin and the theory of evolution by natural selection. But imagine there were reasons that Christians would want to embrace Darwin in a “bear hug”, and Darwinism become Christianity’s “new best friend”? This seemingly preposterous idea is the heart of this book. The author identifies five key reasons why Christians ought to love Darwin – what he said, and the implications of his ideas. The author demonstrates why BOTH the Bible and conventional modern science can be correct at the same time; how BOTH reinforce fundamental Christian doctrine; and the surprising implications for Christians and non-Christians alike. TWENTY CHILDREN WILL BE VACCINATED AGAINST POLIO BECAUSE OF YOUR PURCHASE OF THIS BOOK. For each book sold, the author will contribute $4 to the Rotary Foundation, to be matched with an $8 contribution from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Just 60 cents covers the cost of a vaccination for one child. Learn more about how Rotary and its partners are completing the job of eradicating polio worldwide at endpolio.org.

Book Description
The need has arisen for a comprehensive handbook for engineers faced with problems of radiation shielding design. Although there are several excellent books on shielding, they either do not give enough consideration to the many practical design problems, or are limited to special aspects of the subject. Recognizing the universal need, the International Atomic Energy Agency decided to sponsor the publication ofthe present Engineering Compendium on Radiation Shield ing. At the first editorial discussions it was agreed that, if such a book were to be undertaken, it would be appropriate not only to create a useful design tool for the practising engineer but also to include well-referenced basic data for the research worker. Although trying to keep the book down to a reasonable size, the editors have aimed at a complete presentation of the subject, covering and linking both the tech nology and the science of shielding. Efforts to make terms and definitions consistent throughout have been only partially successful, owing to the continuing development of new ideas. However, inconsisten cies that could not be eliminated are identified whenever possible.

Book Description
The work of Dr John Auping seeks to assist readers to differentiate observationally verified aspects of cosmology from ideas whose verification is distant, or perhaps impossible. Such a task is performed by using a careful application of the orthodox scientific method. This English edition is a part of Auping’s original work especially devoted to the description of the dynamics of stars, and the analysis of the Big Bang, steady state and multiverse models from a critical point of view. The author approaches different aspects of the evolution of the Universe using different branches of astrophysics, Newtonian mechanics, nuclear physics, thermodynamics, quantum physics and general relativity, with a clear and concise narrative. Mathematical boxes support the deeper study of mathematical-physical relations, which can be omitted by readers who are not specialised.
