Book Description
This paper describes the recently modernized permanent and mobile facilities for recovering and processing PCM and FM telemetry data from balloon-borne scientific experiments and engineering tests at Air Force Geophysics Laboratory, Detachment 1, Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico. Mobile units are run either as stand-alone ground stations for launches from remote launch sites, or with telephone communications link to extend the operable range from the permanent ground station on Holloman AFB. (Author).

Book Description
The activity during this report period was primarily concerned with the direct pre-flight and flight support of twenty-four (24) free balloon and seven (7) tether balloon missions at Holloman AFB and various remote locations. Extensive effort was also made in upgrading the Building 850 Control Center configuration for a more efficient operation while also generating up-to-data documentation. The telemetry room computer equipment was reconfigured with major changes in both hardware and software systems. The telemetry van computer system was also upgraded to the same level of support as the telemetry room system. A continuing effort was made to improve the quality of support given to Air Force Geophysics Laboratory and to the other agencies and users involved in the balloon operations as well as to enhance the utilization of the equipment and facilities at AFGL and Holloman AFB. Keywords: New Mexico.

Book Description
Final report of USAF Geophysics Laboratory program undertaken in 1973 to develop superior tethered balloon material and design and fabricate a 45,000 cu. ft. tethered balloon from the developed material. A new empennage ripstop fabric of combined Kevlar and pre-heat set Dacron yarns, and a new hull fabric which is a biaxially woven fabric stabilized with an oriented non-woven polyester fabric, were developed. A 45,000 cu. ft. balloon was designed, fabricated and tested. The new material is suitable for construction of balloons in the 100,000 cu. ft. range. The hull fabric developed on this program was later scaled-up and is currently used in USAF 250,000 cu. ft. Seek Skyhook Aerostats. (Author).

Book Description
The Physical Science Laboratory (PSL) of the New Mexico State University (NMSU) provided support for the Air Force Geophysics Laboratory (AFGL) balloon telemetry systems. Support included updating and modifying existing land-based and mobile telemetry facilities located at holloman AFB. Software was generated to utilize these facilities during computer-supported balloon operations. Operational support was provided during these balloon tests for pre-flight, real-time, and post-flight test activities. (Author).
