Book Description
Excerpt from Voices in the Wind True to their compass, be they East or West, That with the seasons as they come and go Each one to its own purpose fitted best Arrive to chasten or caress no more We hide and shelter from that fierce embrace, But on some wide and solitary shore Go forth to meet, with eager hastening feet, And innermost delight. AS through the night We hear the mighty roar of the vast deep, And all around the rushing waters sweep, The wild West Wind in strong majestic might Appears involved in the pure element we bless The Giver Of transcendent happiness. Book Description
Excerpt from The Voices of the Wind: And Other Poems Voice of the Wind. From out the Boreal circle, from the valley of the dew, From the clouds of sapphire glory in the empyrean blue, Cometh the gentle zephyr-wind upswelling from the plain, Low humming, with its odorous breath, the summer's sweet refrain. It is coming with a lightsome step among the smiling flowers, Softly weaving song and beauty into all the glowing hours; It dallies with the daisy, as it feeds upon the light, About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book Description
“When we believe the Bible as it is, we will see the power of God move in our lives and in our community as it did centuries ago in Bible times.” -Mel Tari Translated into dozens of languages, with millions of copies sold, Like a Mighty Wind remains a beloved classic from global evangelist Mel Tari. Recounting the incredible story of revival on the island of Timor during 1965 in the midst of political turmoil, the book is an amazing testament to the power of faith and the reality of God's power to work miracles in modern times. The Spirit of God that swept across the island “like a mighty wind” continues today throughout Indonesia although persecution of Christians is all too common. The story of God's powerful revival in this region remains a testament to the truth of God's Word, and serves as a reminder to all believers that the Spirit of God manifests in our world now as it did in the earliest days of the Church.

Book Description
Scholars have long provided bagpipes with a creation myth that stretches back to the ancient Near East, where they supposedly appear in the biblical Book of Daniel. It then has the Greeks playing them and Roman legions carrying them to the ends of the Empire. But Michael Peter Vereno's The Voice of the Wind calls this story into question. Using linguistic analysis, Vereno shows that the oldest 'evidence' is often dubious at best and demonstrates that supposed ancient stories of bagpipe origins- and sometimes even their names-were later scholarly creations to give them a respectable, ancient pedigree. His erudite examination calls into question many conclusions and settled 'facts' to reveal a more enlightening story of bagpipe origins. It redefines its field and represents a significant contribution to historical organology. Readers with an interest in modern bagpipes, the history of instruments, and the interpretation of ancient and more recent textual sources will all find something to engage them and complicate their beliefs.
