Book Description
The decay width and the mass of the D{sub s1}(2536){sup {+-}} have been measured via the decay channel D{sub s1}{sup {+-}} {yields} D*{sup {+-}}K{sub S}{sup 0} using 232 fb{sup -1} of data collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e{sup +}e{sup -} storage ring. The result for the decay width is {Lambda}(D{sub s1}{sup {+-}}) = (1.03 {+-} 0.05 {+-} 0.12) MeV/c{sup 2}, with the first error denoting the statistical uncertainty and the second one the systematic uncertainty. For the mass, a value of m(D{sub s1}{sup {+-}}) = (2534.85 {+-} 0.02 {+-} 0.40) MeV/c{sup 2} has been obtained. The systematic error is dominated by the uncertainty on the D*{sup {+-}} mass. The mass difference between the D{sub s1}{sup {+-}} and D*{sup {+-}} has been measured to be {Delta}m = (524.85 {+-} 0.02 {+-} 0.04) MeV/c{sup 2}.

Book Description
The decay width and mass of the D{sub s1}(2536) meson are measured via the decay channel D{sub s1}+ 2!D*+ K{sub S}° using 385 fb−1 of data recorded with the BABAR detector in the vicinity of the [Upsilon](4S) resonance at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy electron-positron collider. The result for the decay width is [Gamma](D{sub s1}+) = 0.92 ± 0.03 (stat.) ± 0.04 (syst.)MeV. For the mass, a value of m(D{sub s1}+) = 2535.08 ± 0.01 (stat.) ± 0.15 (syst.)MeV/c2 is obtained. The mass difference between the D{sub s1}+ and the D*+ is measured to be m(D{sub s1}+)-m(D*+) = 524.83 ± 0.01 (stat.) ± 0.04 (syst.)MeV/c2, representing a significant improvement compared to the current world average. The unnatural spin-parity assignment for the D{sub s1}+ meson is confirmed.

Book Description
I present the measurement of the natural line width of the D*+ meson, [Gamma](D*+), in the transition D*+ -> D0 [pi]^+ using 522.8 fb-1 of data from the BaBar detector. The D0 is reconstructed in two decay channels: D0 -> K-[pi]^+ and D0 -> K-[pi]^+[pi]-[pi]^+. We use Monte Carlo to simulate our reconstruction resolution in the difference of the reconstructed D*+ and reconstructed D0 masses. We fit a relativistic Breit-Wigner form convolved with the measured resolution function plus background to the mass difference distribution, allowing for an additional scale factor between simulated and real data. The dominant source of systematic uncertainty in the [Delta]m measurements is currently overestimated and will be reduced in the publication of this analysis after further assessment. Results are reported in natural units ([h-bar] = c = 1). Using the decay mode D0 -> K-[pi]^+ we find, [Gamma] = 83.4 ± 1.7 ± 1.4 keV[Delta] m = m(D*+) - m(D0) = 145425.6 ± 0.6 ± 1.5 keVUsing the decay mode D0-> K-[pi]+[pi]-[pi]+ we find, [Gamma] = 83.2 ± 1.5 ± 2.9 keV[Delta]m = m(D*+) - m(D0) = 145426.6 ± 0.5 ± 1.9 keVThe combined measurement is[Gamma] = 83.3 ± 1.3 ± 1.4 keV[Delta]m = 145425.8 ± 0.5 ± 1.6 keV.

Book Description
This comprehensive work thoroughly introduces and reviews the set of results from Belle and BaBar - after more than two decades of independent and complementary work - all the way from the detectors and the analysis tools used, up to the physics results, and the interpretation of these results. The world’s two giant B Factory collaborations, Belle at KEK and BaBar at SLAC, have successfully completed their main mission to discover and quantify CP violation in the decays of B mesons. CP violation is a necessary requirement to distinguish unambiguously between matter and antimatter. The shared primary objective of the two B Factory experiments was to determine the shape of the so-called unitarity triangle, an abstract triangle representing interactions of quarks, the elementary constituents of matter. The area of the triangle is a measure of the amount of CP violation associated with the weak force. Many other measurements have been performed by the B Factories and are also discussed in this work.

Book Description
This book is targeted mainly to the undergraduate students of USA, UK and other European countries, and the M. Sc of Asian countries, but will be found useful for the graduate students, Graduate Record Examination (GRE), Teachers and Tutors. This is a by-product of lectures given at the Osmania University, University of Ottawa and University of Tebrez over several years, and is intended to assist the students in their assignments and examinations. The book covers a wide spectrum of disciplines in Modern Physics, and is mainly based on the actual examination papers of UK and the Indian Universities. The selected problems display a large variety and conform to syllabi which are currently being used in various countries. The book is divided into ten chapters. Each chapter begins with basic concepts containing a set of formulae and explanatory notes for quick reference, followed by a number of problems and their detailed solutions. The problems are judiciously selected and are arranged section-wise. The so- tions are neither pedantic nor terse. The approach is straight forward and step-- step solutions are elaborately provided. More importantly the relevant formulas used for solving the problems can be located in the beginning of each chapter. There are approximately 150 line diagrams for illustration. Basic quantum mechanics, elementary calculus, vector calculus and Algebra are the pre-requisites.
