An effort has been made to present in orderly arrangement the scope and general content of the labor laws without giving the details and legal verbiage of these enactments. It has also been thought advisable to give the industrial beginnings and development in Utah, as a helpful background to this study. This brief preliminary survey, however, of the industrial life of Utah, merely indicates the channels into which the energies and resources of the state have been directed with the purpose In view of pointing out more clearly the trend that labor legislation has taken in this commonwealth. It may also be well to state that no record has been found of any special investigation or research in this particular field which covers specifically the State of Utah, therefore, the writer has had to rely largely upon his own investigations.
