Book Description
"The drawings in this atlas include all the primary and secondary teeth from 5 views (facial, lingual, mesial, distal, and incisal/occlusal). In addition, there are unique drawings that permit easy visual comparisons to be made between the different primary teeth, the different secondary teeth, and also comparisons to be made between the primary and secondary teeth. The Atlas of the Human Dentition designed for easy viewing of the 77 pages of detailed drawings. All the drawings are scale drawings, based on the "average" dimensions of each tooth as identified in the dental literature. Additionally, a unique feature is that all of the key morphologic features typically found of each tooth are visible on the drawings. The Atlas also includes tables that show the average dimensions as determined in the dental literature, as well as tables that identify the coronal outline form, coronal heights of contour, marginal ridge locations and forms, root surface and morphology, proximal contact forms and location, and cervical crown form."--Publisher.

Book Description
Progress in information technology has fostered a global explosion of data generation. Accumulated big data are now estimated to be 4.4 zettabytes in the digital universe; and trends predict an exponential increase in the future. Health data are gathered from professional routine care and other expanded sources including the social determinants of health, such as Internet of Things. Biomedical research has recently moved through three stages in digital healthcare: (1) data collection; (2) data sharing; and (3) data analytics. With the explosion of stored health data, dental medicine is edging into its fourth stage of digitization using new technologies including augmented and virtual reality, artificial intelligence, and blockchain. Big data collaborations involve interactions between a diverse range of stakeholders with analytical, technical and political focus. In oral healthcare, data technology has many areas of application: prognostic analysis and predictive modeling, the identification of unknown correlations of diseases, clinical decision support for novel treatment concepts, public health surveys and population-based clinical research, as well as the evaluation of healthcare systems. The objective of this Special Issue is to provide an update on the current knowledge with state-of-the-art theory and practical information on human and social perspectives that determine the uptake of technological innovations in big data science in the field of dental medicine. Moreover, it will focus on the identification of future research needs to manage the continuous increase in health data and to accomplish its clinical translation for patient-centered research and personalized dentistry. This Special Issue welcomes all types of studies and reviews considering the perspectives of different stakeholders on technological innovations for big data science in all dental disciplines. Kind regards,

Walsh, and a veritable Who’s Who of expert contributors, Dental Hygiene follows the Human Needs Conceptual Model with a focus on client-centered care that takes the entire person into consideration. UNIQUE! Human Needs Conceptual Model framework follows Maslow’s human needs theory, helping hygienists treat the whole patient — not just specific diseases. Comprehensive coverage addresses the need-to-know issues in dental hygiene — from the rationale behind the need for dental hygiene care through assessment, diagnosis, care planning, implementation, pain and anxiety control, the care of individuals with special needs, and practice management. Step-by-step procedure boxes list the equipment required and the steps involved in performing key procedures. Rationales for the steps are provided in printable PDFs online. Critical Thinking exercises and Scenario boxes encourage application and problem solving, and help prepare students for the case-based portion of the NBDHE. Client Education boxes list teaching points that the dental hygienist may use to educate clients on at-home daily oral health care. High-quality and robust art program includes full-color illustrations and clinical photographs as well as radiographs to show anatomy, complex clinical procedures, and modern equipment. Legal, Ethical, and Safety Issues boxes address issues related to risk prevention and management. Expert authors Michele Darby and Margaret Walsh lead a team of international contributors consisting of leading dental hygiene instructors, researchers, and practitioners. NEW chapters on evidence-based practice, the development of a professional portfolio, and palliative care provide research-based findings and practical application of topics of interest in modern dental hygiene care. NEW content addresses the latest research and best practices in attaining clinical competency, including nutrition and community health guidelines, nonsurgical periodontal therapy, digital imaging, local anesthesia administration, pharmacology, infection control, and the use of the electronic health record (EHR) within dental hygiene practice. Book Description
This book highlights the integration of science and imaging and demonstrates how we can teach and learn in a much more accessible, innovative, and engaging way using technology. This volume is particularly focused on three main themes: advanced microscopy, anatomy education, and radiology visualisation related to patient care. The chapters pertaining to advanced microscopy convey complex biomedical information by visual means. These chapters provide both an overview on the principles of microscopy and specific applications of microscopy that have led to groundbreaking discoveries. Chapters pertaining to education summarise the recent trends in teaching gross and microscopic anatomy and emphasise the creation and use of novel tools to support student learning. Lastly, the radiological visualisation segment dives into the history of radiographic imaging and highlights the profound effect technology has had on improving patient outcomes. This volume will be of particular interest to many; the scope of this book encompasses medicine, dentistry, allied health professions, biomedical sciences, anatomy and histology education, radiology, and microscopy. Students, researchers, educators, and clinicians will learn something new, be stimulated to ask innovative questions, and be inspired to continue the technological advancements pushing science forward.
