Book Description
Tarzan of the Apes is a novel by American writer Edgar Rice Burroughs, the first in a series of books about the title character Tarzan. It was first published in the pulp magazine The All-Story in October 1912.[1] The story follows Tarzan's adventures, from his childhood being raised by apes in the jungle, to his eventual encounters with other humans and Western society. So popular was the character that Burroughs continued the series into the 1940s with two dozen sequels.[2] For the novel's centennial anniversary, Library of America published a hardcover edition based on the original book with an introduction by Thomas Mallon in April 2012 (ISBN 978-1-59853-164-0). Scholars have noted several important themes in the novel: the impact of heredity on behavior; racial superiority; civilization, especially as Tarzan struggles with his identity as a human; sexuality; and escapism.

Book Description
After over a hundred years as a media star, Tarzan of the Apes is still one of the most misunderstood of modern myths. Illustrated by Thomas Yeates, and edited by Richard A. Lupoff, this book reveals the real Tarzan, as created by novelist Edgar Rice Burroughs: savage ape-man, secret agent, science fiction adventurer, paranormal investigator, RAF Officer, family Man, Viscount, and immortal. An archetype totally adaptable to the 21st century and beyond. 'Who Is Tarzan?' also examines the Ape-Man in connection to ancient mythology, and later legends and cultural trends. Parts 2, 3 and 4 of 'Who Is Tarzan?' follow six great Tarzan comics artists and their individual styles of representing the ape-man.: Hal Foster, Burne Hogarth, Jesse Marsh, Russ Manning, Joe Kubert, and now, in our time, Thomas Yeates.

Book Description
Michael Organek was born with cerebral palsy to an urban, ethnic, working-class family. He was a witness and, at times, a participant to the extraordinary and turbulent events of the sixties and early seventies. His nonpassive personality put him at odds with the educational system, later with the Federal Civil Service bureaucracy, and his interaction with nondisabled society both personally and professionally. His life’s journey is full of adapting to environments that were, at times, a paradox and diametrically opposed to his core values. He chronicles his mistakes without being apologetic. Perseverance and tenacity were essential qualities for his living a dignified existence.
