Book Description
This expos reveals unique and tragic events that occurred north of San Francisco Bay in Northwestern California primarily during the Nineteenth Century. It details a clash between the indigenous inhabitants of the area who had lived here for several millennia and White invaders from the eastern portions of the United States attracted by reports of placer gold deposits found in selected waterways as well as by the presence of land where flora and fauna grew in unprecedented profusion from the heavy rainfall sufficient to support great stands of Redwood forests, the tallest trees on earth. For American ranchers and farmers subject to drought in many parts of the United States, Northwestern California sounded like a Garden marred only by the presence of hundreds of thousands of Native Americans who occupied this Eden. What followed was a war of brutality in the 1800s between two races for possession of land ownership, an updated story that has never been presented in such detail before. White migrants committed ethnocide and genocide in removing the natives while founding Humboldt, Trinity, Mendocino and Klamath counties. This work takes the form of an historical novel blending fact with a modicum of fiction for readability.

Book Description
“America is a land of wonders, in which everything is in constant motion and every change seems an improvement.... No natural boundary seems to be set to the efforts of man; and in his eyes what is not yet done is only what he has not yet attempted to do”—Alexis de Tocqueville, Democracy in America (1835). “Americans will pay a big price for an invention that will help them save time they don’t know what to do with”—Anonymous. This collection of quotations—both serious and humorous—about America is divided into 19 main topics: The Nation, The American People, Places, Nature, Mind, The Individual, Human Relations, Social Life, Culture and Media, Literature and Language, Religion and Belief, Past and Future, History, War and the Military, International Relations, Politics and Government, Law and Order, Business and Economy, and Food. Each main topic is divided into subtopics; for example, “Culture and Media” has these: Architecture, Art, Charlie Chaplin, Dance, Fashion, Intellectuals, Marilyn Monroe, Movies, Music, Elvis Presley, and Television. The author attributes each quote to its speaker, author or composer, and wherever possible, provides the date of the quote and the name of the work in which it was published. In the case of uncertainty about the exact date of a quote, the author provides the birth and death dates of the person to whom the quote is attributed. Also included are a keyword and subject index and a speaker index.

Book Description
Three unlikely friends become partners in heartbreak and hope during a middle school pottery class in this powerful, poignant novel—perfect for fans of Gordon Korman and Lynda Mullaly Hunt. At West Beacon Middle School, eighth graders Oscar Villanueva, Riley Baptiste, and Noah Wright become unlikely friends during Introduction to Clay class. Oscar, a football star, just lost his little sister to cancer. Riley's been dragged away from Philadelphia by her single mom to a new life in West Beacon, a tiny Pennsylvania coal town that's smaller than Riley's old school. Noah's spent his whole life as a homeschooler and just started West Beacon Middle School as a result of his parents' train wreck of a divorce. Through art, football, failure, faith, and trust, the friends help one another to piece things back together again. In true friendship, they also discover that some injuries may never heal, some things can never be unbroken—and that's okay too.
