The stations on Lake Erie selected for a comprehensive wave analysis were located at Monroe, Mich.; Cleveland, Ohio; Erie, Pa.; and Buffalo, N.Y. Wave characteristics were determined from synoptic weather charts for each station for 1948-50. The method and scope of the analysis were similar to those described in AD-20 097. An average ice-free period from Apr. 1 to Nov. 1 was determined for all 4 stations. For Lake Erie, the average water level during the period 1860 to 1952 was 572.31 ft (above mean tide at New York, 1935 datum); the highest 1-mo average of 574.60 ft occurred in April 1952, and the lowest of 569. 43 ft occurred in February 1936.
