Natural Convection From An Open Rectangular Cavity With Cylinder
Author: Sheikh Anwar Hossain
Publisher: LAP Lambert Academic Publishing
ISBN: 9783659186066
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 88
Book Description
Finite Element Simulation of two-dimensional laminar steady state natural convection in a rectangular open cavity has been studied. A heated circular cylinder is placed at the centre of the cavity where the left sidewall to the cavity is heated by a constant heat flux. The top wall is kept cool and the bottom wall is kept at a hot temperature. The fluid is concerned with different Prandtl numbers. The properties of the fluid are assumed to be constant. The physical problems are represented mathematically by different sets of governing equations along with the corresponding boundary conditions. In this study, finite element method for steady state incompressible natural convection flows is used to find the numerical results. The Galerkin Weighted Residual method of finite element formulation is applied to discretize the non-dimensional governing equations. The results of the investigation are obtained in terms of streamlines, isotherms and heat transfer characteristics Nusselt numbers for different Grashof numbers and different inclination angles of the cavity ranges from 0o to 45o.

Waves in Fluids
Author: Sir M. J. Lighthill
Publisher: Cambridge University Press
ISBN: 9780521010450
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 528
Book Description
A comprehensive textbook in which the author describes the science of waves in liquids and gases. Drawing on a subject of enormous extent and variety, he provides his readers with a thorough analysis of the most important and representative types of waves including sound waves, shock waves, waterwaves of all kinds, and the so-called internal waves (inside atmospheres and oceans) due to intensity stratification. Emphasis throughout is on the most generally useful fundamental ideas of wave science, including the principles of how waves interact with flows. This standard work on one of the great subdivisions of the dynamics of fluids is lucidly written and will be invaluable to engineers, physicists, geophysicists, applied mathematicians or any research worker concerned with wave motions or fluid fllows. It is especially suitable as a textbook for courses at the final year undergraduate or graduate level.

Convective Flow and Heat Transfer from Wavy Surfaces
Author: Aroon Shenoy
Publisher: CRC Press
ISBN: 1315350653
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 288
Book Description
Convective Flow and Heat Transfer from Wavy Surfaces: Viscous Fluids, Porous Media, and Nanofluids addresses the wavy irregular surfaces in heat transfer devices. Fluid flow and heat transfer studies from wavy surfaces have received attention, since they add complexity and require special mathematical techniques. This book considers the flow and heat transfer characteristics from wavy surfaces, providing an understanding of convective behavioral changes.
