Excerpt from Tobacco Stocks Report: April 1, 1944 Stocks of flue-cured tobacco on April 1 totaled pounds, which were more than 185 million, or about 13 percent, lower than stocks of l,380,876,000 pounds reported on April 1, 19t3, and the lowest April 1 stocks since 1939. Of all flue-cured stocks on hand, M3l,982,000 pounds were reported as Type 11; h39,725,000 pounds as Type 12; pounds as Type 13; and pounds as Type lh. Stocks of all types were lower than on April 1 a year ago. Although a few sales were held in the flue-cured area in January, the amount added to stocks through this source was negligible.
