Lewis Wills (1744-1832) was born at Strausburg, Alsace, France. He immigrated to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, in 1748. He married Elizabeth Dick, daughter of Peter and Mary Elizabeth Dick in 1770 in Lancaster County. They had seven children, 1772-1786. The family was living in Frederick County, Virginia, by 1780, where he served in the Revolutionary War. He and his family lived in Washington County, Virginia, ca. 1792-1798; in Carter County, Tennessee, ca. 1798-1818; and in Greene County, Tennessee, ca. 1818-1832. Catherine Wills died in 1802 and he married 2) Martha Ellen or Elinder King. They had five children, 1809-1817. He was drowned at Byrd's Ford on the Nolichucky River in Greene County. Record chiefly covers descendants of his children who lived in Johnson County, Tennessee, Peter Wills (1776-1856); Mary Wills Smith (b. 1779), who married Henry Smith (b. 1776); Barbara Wills McQueen (1782-1855), who married Thomas McQueen (1780-1850); and Lewis Wills (1784-1855). Descendants listed lived in Tennessee, and elsewhere throughout the United States.
